Job Title: Production Planning Engineer

Department: Production / Manufacturing / Planning Reports To: Production Manager / Plant Manager

1. Job Purpose A Production Planning Engineer is responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring production activities to ensure that products are manufactured on time, in the required quantity, and according to quality standards while minimizing production costs and optimizing the use of manpower, machines, and materials.

2. Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Production Planning and Scheduling

· Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans. · Develop production schedules according to customer orders and delivery deadlines.

· Allocate machines, manpower, and resources to meet production targets.

· Monitor production progress and take corrective actions to avoid delays.

1. Material Planning and Inventory Control

· Coordinate with the Purchase and Stores departments to ensure material availability. · Prepare Material Requirement Planning (MRP) based on production schedules.

· Monitor raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory.

· Prevent material shortages and excess inventory.

1. Production Monitoring

· Track daily production output against planned targets. · Analyze production delays, machine downtime, and bottlenecks.

· Prepare daily production reports and maintain planning records.

· Coordinate with the production team to achieve delivery commitments.

1. Coordination with Other Departments

· Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Purchase, Stores, and Dispatch departments. · Follow up on customer orders and delivery schedules.

· Ensure timely availability of drawings, tools, fixtures,



and other production requirements.

1. Capacity Planning

· Calculate machine and manpower requirements. · Monitor machine utilization and production capacity.

· Balance workloads across machines, production lines, and shifts.

· Identify capacity constraints and recommend improvements.

1. Quality and Process Improvement

· Coordinate with the Quality Department to maintain product quality standards. · Support continuous improvement activities to reduce waste and rejection.

· Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other productivity improvement techniques.

· Analyze root causes of production problems and implement corrective actions.

1. MIS and Reporting

· Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production planning reports. · Maintain production schedules, order status, and pending production records.

· Track KPIs such as production efficiency, plan attainment, on-time delivery, and inventory levels.

· Use ERP systems and MS Excel for production planning and reporting.

3. Required Skills

· Production planning and scheduling

· Material Requirement Planning (MRP)

· MS Excel, including PivotTables and lookup functions

· ERP/SAP knowledge

· Problem-solving and analytical skills

· Communication and coordination

· Time management and decision-making

· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S

4. Educational Qualification and Experience

· Qualification: Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or a related engineering discipline.

· Experience: Typically 3–5 years, depending on the position.

· Preferred knowledge: Manufacturing processes, production control, inventory management, and ERP systems.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
