Job Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Production Manager Silage Operations to manage the complete silage production process. The role involves working closely with farmers for crop procurement, negotiating crop prices, arranging harvesting machinery and manpower, supervising silage production, and coordinating transportation for timely dispatch to customer locations.

The candidate should be comfortable working in field conditions and independently managing day-to-day farm and silage operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Crop Procurement & Farmer Coordination

- Identify and coordinate with farmers for crop procurement required for silage production.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with farmers.
- Visit farms and assess crop availability, quality, quantity, and harvesting stage.
- Negotiate crop prices with farmers based on crop quality and prevailing market conditions.
- Finalize procurement quantities and ensure timely availability of crops for production.

2. Harvesting & Machinery Coordination

- Plan and coordinate crop harvesting activities with farmers.
- Arrange required harvesting machines, balers, chaff cutters, tractors, and other equipment.
- Coordinate with machine operators and ensure machines are available as per the harvesting schedule.
- Monitor harvesting activities to ensure minimum crop wastage and timely completion.

3. Silage Production Operations

- Manage the complete day-to-day silage production process at the field/site.
- Coordinate with labourers and machine operators involved in silage production.
- Ensure proper handling, processing, baling, wrapping, and storage of silage.
- Monitor the quality of silage during production.
- Ensure production is completed as per required quality, quantity, and timelines.

4. Labour & Team Management

- Plan and allocate labour according to daily production requirements.
- Supervise labourers,



machine operators, drivers, and field workers.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and work quality.
- Ensure proper coordination between farmers, labourers, operators, and internal teams.
- Maintain discipline and ensure safe working practices at the site.

5. Dispatch & Transportation

- Coordinate with transporters for loading and dispatch of finished silage.
- Plan transportation based on customer requirements and production schedules.
- Coordinate loading, vehicle placement, documentation, and timely dispatch.
- Ensure material reaches the client/customer location within the committed timeline.
- Track dispatched material and coordinate with customers regarding delivery.

6. Daily Operations & Reporting

- Prepare daily plans for crop procurement, harvesting, production, and dispatch.
- Maintain records of crop procurement, farmer details, crop quantity, pricing, production, labour, machinery, and dispatch.
- Monitor daily production and procurement costs.
- Report operational progress, challenges, and requirements to the Head – Production.
- Ensure productive utilization of manpower, machinery, and other resources.

Required Skills & Experience

- 4–7 years of experience in farm operations, agricultural production, silage, fodder, dairy, or related fields.
- Hands-on experience in farm operations and crop procurement.
- Experience in farmer coordination and crop price negotiation.
- Experience in managing farm labour and machine operators.
- Good understanding of crop harvesting and agricultural machinery.
- Experience in silage production will be strongly preferred.
- Good coordination skills with farmers, labourers, machine operators, and transporters.
- Ability to work independently in field/farm locations.
- Good communication, negotiation, and people-management skills.
- Willingness to travel to farms and production locations as required.
