: Sampling Head / Product Development Manager

Exodus Futura Knit Pvt. Ltd. is a vertically integrated knitwear manufacturer near Kolkata (knitting, dyeing, cutting, embroidery, printing, sewing and finishing), making casual wear and intimate wear for domestic retail, e-commerce and export. ISO, SEDEX and BSCI certified, 900+ employees.

Role overview

This role develops new styles and samples for new and existing clients, and gets them approved fast and at the right cost.

Reports to: Managing Director / Merchandising Manager · Location: Sonarpur · Experience: 3+ years in knitwear sampling or product development

Responsibilities

- Develop new styles and samples from buyer tech packs, reference garments and sketches, within agreed deadlines.
- Coordinate with the CAD Master on patterns, grading and markers, and with the sample room on stitching, trims, embroidery and prints.
- Work with the knitting and dyeing teams on fabric development: yarn count, GSM, structure (single jersey, interlock, rib), shade and finish.
- Prepare a cost sheet for every sample (fabric, trims, CMT, embellishment) and share it with Merchandising before it goes out.
- Track sample status from request to buyer approval,



and keep records of comments, revisions and approvals.
- Run fit and wash tests before submission, and reduce the number of sample rounds per style.
- Keep a library of approved samples, fabrics, trims and swatches, and build seasonal development ranges for target buyers.
- Train and manage the sample room tailors, pattern and sampling staff.

Requirements
- 3+ years in sampling or product development in knitwear or apparel manufacturing.
- Solid knowledge of knit garment construction, fabrics, trims, measurements and fit.
- Can read tech packs and spec sheets, and is comfortable with costing.
- Working knowledge of CAD pattern software.
- Diploma or degree in apparel, textiles or fashion technology preferred.

Good to have: experience with retail chain, kids’ wear or intimate wear buyers; exposure to export buyer standards.
