Designation: Press Tool Design Engineer

1. Job Summary CMD Precision Products Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced Press Tool Design Engineer to handle the design and development of press tools for sheet metal and automotive components. The candidate should have solid technical knowledge of press tool design, CAD software, design feasibility along with the ability to coordinate with customers, production, quality, and tool room teams to ensure cost-effective and manufacturable tooling solutions. 2. Key Responsibilities A.

Press Tool

Design & Development

Design and develop press tools for sheet metal components.

Prepare 2D and 3D tool designs, die layouts, assembly drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM).

Design blanking, piercing, bending, forming, restriking, stage, and progressive tools.

Develop strip layouts and determine the number of stations required for progressive tools.

Select suitable tool materials, punches, dies, guide pillars, bushes, and standard components.

Ensure tool designs meet component drawings, dimensional tolerances, and GD&T; requirements.

B. Feasibility & Technical Validation

Review customer drawings and identify design feasibility, manufacturing challenges, and potential risks.

Conduct design feasibility studies for new components and customer RFQs.

Support tool trials, try-outs, debugging, and modifications to achieve the required component quality.

Coordinate with production and tool room teams to resolve tooling and manufacturing issues.

Ensure designs meet customer specifications and production requirements.

C. Customer Coordination

Review customer drawings, technical specifications, and design requirements.

Clarify technical queries and coordinate with customers for drawing approvals.





Support design reviews and incorporate approved engineering changes.

Monitor design activities and ensure timely completion of customer deliverables.

D. Cross-Functional Coordination

Coordinate with production, quality, tool room, and manufacturing engineering teams.

Support troubleshooting of tooling problems during trials and production.

Ensure smooth transfer of approved tool designs to the tool room and production teams.

Maintain design records, drawings, revisions, and CAD data.

E. Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve tool design, productivity, and tool life.

Standardize design practices and reuse proven tooling concepts wherever applicable.

Support continuous improvement and cost-reduction activities.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of press tool design and development.

Experience in progressive, stage, and multi-stage tools.

Proficiency in CAD software such as Cimatron, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.

Knowledge of strip layout development, punch and die design, and tool assembly.

Understanding of GD&T;, engineering drawings, and material specifications.

Knowledge of feasibility analysis, and RFQ quotation support.

Ability to troubleshoot tooling issues and support tool proving.

Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

4. Qualification & Experience

Qualification: Diploma or BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Making, Post Diploma in Tool Design or a relevant discipline.

Experience: 3–6 years of relevant experience in press tool design and development.

Industry Preference: Automotive, sheet metal, precision engineering, or manufacturing industries.

5. Preferred Profile

Hands-on experience in progressive and stage tool design.

Experience in customer drawing review and design feasibility.

Practical knowledge of tool trials, debugging, and production support.

Ability to work independently and complete design activities within specified timelines.
