Job Title: Plant Operations Head Green Ammonia Plant (8 TPD)

Plant Scope: ASU, Electrolysers, Ammonia Synthesis Unit, Ammonia Purification Unit, Despatch

About the Role The Plant Operations Head will be the single point of accountability for safe, reliable, and efficient operation of an 8 TPD green ammonia facility, integrating an Air Separation Unit (ASU), Electrolyser-based hydrogen generation, ammonia synthesis loop, Purification, and Product despatch. This is a leadership role covering commissioning support, day-to-day operations, maintenance oversight, safety, and team management.

Key Responsibilities

- Take overall operational charge of all process units — ASU, Electrolysers, Ammonia Synthesis, Purification, and Despatch — ensuring integrated, efficient plant performance
- Lead plant commissioning and start-up activities, and co-ordinate with the project team during handover from construction to operations
- Develop and implement SOPs, operating philosophies, and control strategies for each unit, and ensure smooth interlocking between units via the plant's DCS/SCADA and unit-level PLCs
- Drive plant productivity, yield optimization, and energy efficiency across the synthesis loop and utilities
- Own plant safety performance — process safety management, HAZOP action closure, permit-to-work systems, and compliance with PESO, Factories Act, and other statutory requirements applicable to ammonia storage and handling
- Plan and oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance in coordination with the maintenance/E&I; teams
- Manage raw material and utility planning (power, water, nitrogen/air feed)



to ensure uninterrupted operations
- Oversee ammonia purification quality control and despatch logistics, ensuring product specifications and safe loading/transport practices
- Build, train, and lead the shift operations team (shift in-charges, panel operators, field operators)
- Liaise with statutory bodies (PESO, Pollution Control Board, Factory Inspectorate) for approvals, inspections, and audits
- Report plant KPIs, incidents, and performance to senior management

Candidate Profile

- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from a reputed institute (NIT/IIT/equivalent preferred)
- Experience: Minimum 15 years in process plant operations, with strong preference for candidates with direct ammonia plant (synthesis loop) operating experience; exposure to ASU and/or electrolyser-based hydrogen plants is a strong plus
- Prior Roles: Plant Head / Operations Head / Shift In-charge progression in a fertilizer, petrochemical, or ammonia/hydrogen production facility
- Technical Knowledge: Solid grasp of Haber-Bosch synthesis loop operations, cryogenic air separation, high-pressure gas handling, DCS/SCADA-based plant control, and process safety systems
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead multi-unit operations teams and manage cross-functional coordination with maintenance, E&I;, and project teams
- Regulatory: Familiarity with PESO regulations for ammonia storage/handling and factory safety compliance in India
