Life-Limited Parts Traceability & Technical Records
Manage continuing-airworthiness records for life-limited parts (LLPs) and time-controlled components, ensuring accurate life-status control, complete in-service history, and reliable transfer of technical records across installation, removal, shop-visit, operator-change and asset-transition events. The role acts on behalf of the operator or owner while preserving clear accountability, traceability and data integrity.
Key outcome: Every controlled LLP has a current, auditable and internally consistent record of identity, life consumed, life remaining, installation history and supporting evidence
Key Responsibilities:
1. LLP and component life control
Maintain the current status of LLPs and time-controlled components, including approved life limit, accumulated life and remaining life in each applicable parameter.
Control part identity using part number, serial number and approved nomenclature, and ensure continuity where a modification changes part number or life limitation.
Reconcile aircraft, engine, module and component TSN/CSN, usage, thrust rating and other applicable operating parameters before updating status records.
Monitor due limits and escalate discrepancies or risk of exceedance before release, installation or continued operation.
2. Movement history and back-to-birth traceability
Maintain the LLP Movement History Sheet or approved digital equivalent for production, installation, removal, change of operator, change in operational parameters, modification, repair, overhaul, shop visit and lease-return events.
Record date-on/date-off, host aircraft and assembly details, registration, installation position, host TSN/CSN, thrust rating, LLP TSN/CSN, cumulative utilization and remaining life, as applicable.
Build and validate the in-service history by linking each movement to supporting records and ensuring chronological continuity between operators, engines, modules and aircraft.
Prepare complete trace packs for transfers, lease returns, asset sales, audits and technical reviews.
3. Technical-record review and acceptance
Review birth documentation for new aircraft, engines, modules and spare LLPs, confirming unique identification and current or manufactured status.
Review operator documentation, including LLP status sheets, operational history or on-off logs and applicable incident/accident clearance statements.
Review shop-visit records, including incoming and outgoing LLP status, authorised release certificates, work-performed certification, modification, repair and AD-compliance evidence.
Confirm that signatures, dates, approval references and electronic certifications are complete and consistent with the approved records system.
Raise, track and close technical-record discrepancies. Where source records cannot be reissued, coordinate a controlled correction supported by explanation, evidence, authorization and date.
4. CAMO, MRO and stakeholder coordination
Coordinate with operator engineering, maintenance planning, technical records, quality, MROs, lessors, owners, OEMs, suppliers and part traders to obtain and validate missing evidence.
Ensure records received from contracted technical-record providers are supported by appropriate operator or owner authorization when the contractor acts on their behalf.
Provide record packages and status information to maintenance organisations before shop visits and capture all returned release and work-scope evidence after completion.
Support repossession, transition and off-lease cases by reconstructing the best available technical record without overstating unsupported history.
5. Governance, audit and data quality
Operate in accordance with the approved Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition, aircraft maintenance programme, applicable airworthiness limitations, ADs and company procedures.
Maintain controlled electronic records with clear version history, access control, backup and handover arrangements.
Perform periodic sampling and reconciliation of LLP records, identify systemic data-quality issues and support corrective and preventive actions.
Provide evidence and subject-matter support during authority, customer, lessor, quality and internal audits.
