Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our Labour Room team. The candidate will be responsible for providing safe, high-quality nursing care to mothers during labour, delivery and the immediate postnatal period, while supporting the medical team in ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and newborn.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide nursing care to patients admitted to the Labour Room and LDR.
- Monitor maternal vital signs, fetal heart rate and progress of labour.
- Assist obstetricians during normal deliveries and obstetric procedures.
- Prepare patients, instruments, equipment and supplies for delivery.
- Identify and promptly report maternal or fetal complications and emergencies.
- Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids and injections.
- Provide immediate newborn care and coordinate with the Neonatology/NICU team when required.
- Monitor mothers after delivery and identify signs of postpartum complications.
- Maintain accurate nursing records, labour monitoring charts and delivery documentation.
- Follow infection prevention, aseptic techniques and patient safety protocols.
- Ensure the availability and readiness of emergency equipment, medicines and supplies.
- Educate mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care and post-delivery recovery.
- Coordinate effectively with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Comply with hospital policies,



nursing protocols and applicable quality standards.
- Perform other relevant duties assigned by the Nursing In-charge.

Qualifications
- GNM or B.Sc. Nursing from a recognised institution.
- Valid registration with the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council (KNMC) or applicable nursing council.

Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant nursing experience preferred.
- Experience in Labour Room, LDR, maternity care and delivery procedures will be an advantage.

Required Skills
- Positive clinical assessment and patient-monitoring skills.
- Knowledge of labour room procedures and obstetric emergencies.
- Understanding of immediate newborn care and neonatal resuscitation.
- Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Compassionate, responsible and patient-centred approach.
