About PulseSense Dynamics

Ready to build hardware and software that directly combats climate change? At PulseSense Dynamics, we are accelerating the global energy transition by deploying next-generation IoT, smart sensing, and edge intelligence to optimize energy assets worldwide.

Formed through the strategic acquisition of WindESCo's industry-proven IP and technology assets, PulseSense Dynamics combines the agility and energy of an ambitious tech innovator with the foundation of solutions already optimizing wind farms across 19 countries for over 41 major customers. Headquartered in Raleigh, NC, we offer early-career engineers a high-impact, collaborative environment where your code and hardware designs directly power real-world projects and maximize energy output.

The Opportunity: Hardware Engineer Level 1

We are looking for a passionate, agile Hardware Engineer (Level 1) with approximately 2 years of hands-on experience to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and support the deployment of mixed-signal electronic hardware, sensor interfaces, data-acquisition systems, and IoT edge devices.

You will play an active role in schematic design, PCB development, embedded firmware, bench and field validation, and post-deployment support. If you thrive on solving complex engineering problems, working directly with physical hardware, and seeing your designs operate reliably in extreme environments, this is the launchpad for your career!

Key Responsibilities

· Mixed-Signal Design: Assist in the design, review, and validation of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for sensors, signal conditioning, power management, communication interfaces, and data-acquisition hardware.

· PCB & Schematic Development: Support schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout reviews, BOM management, prototyping, and design-for-manufacturing activities.

· Firmware Development: Develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers,

sensor interfaces, DAQ units, and IoT edge hardware.

· Hardware Testing & Validation: Build and execute test plans, bench-test hardware, perform signal-integrity and functional validation, debug board-level issues, and support EMC/EMI, environmental, and reliability testing.

· Sensor & DAQ Integration: Assist in the specification, integration, calibration, and bench-testing of remote data-acquisition (DAQ) units, sensor arrays, and industrial edge devices.

· IoT & Communication Protocols: Configure and test industrial communication interfaces and protocols, including HTTPS, Modbus, and OPC UA, for robust data transmission.

· Deployment Support: Support pilot deployments, field installations, commissioning, remote diagnostics, and hardware/software configuration for customer sites.

· Warranty & Field Support: Investigate field failures, perform root cause analyses (RCA), manage warranty cases, coordinate repairs or replacements, and implement corrective design or process improvements.

· Root Cause Analysis & Testing: Conduct structured root cause analyses on hardware and field issues, document diagnostic findings, and engineer reliable solutions.

· Technical Reporting & Docs: Draft technical documentation, hardware test protocols, assembly and commissioning instructions, field deployment guides, and warranty/RMA reports for engineering and field operations teams.

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.

· Experience: 1 - 3 years of hands-on experience in electronics hardware design, embedded systems, IoT hardware integration,

or hardware testing (internship/co-op experience included).

· Mixed-Signal Hardware: Practical experience with analog/digital circuit design, sensors, signal conditioning, power supplies, microcontrollers, and data-acquisition systems.

· Firmware & Programming: Working knowledge of C/C++ for embedded/low-level programming and Python for test automation, scripting, and data handling.

· Operating Systems & Tools: Familiarity with Linux environment, basic shell scripting, Git, and common schematic/PCB design tools.

· Soft Skills: Energetic problem-solver with strong diagnostic skills and clear technical written/verbal communication.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

· Domain Interest: Experience with rotating machinery and condition-monitoring systems.

· Advanced Hardware Skills: Exposure to high-speed digital design, EMI/EMC compliance, PCB layout tools, DFM/DFT, and hardware reliability testing.

· Advanced Tech Stack: Exposure to industrial protocols (OPC UA, Modbus), MQTT, Docker containers, and cloud infrastructure.

· Signal Processing: Basic understanding of fault diagnostics, vibration monitoring, or signal processing.

· Field Engineering: Experience supporting hardware deployments, RMA/warranty workflows, or customer-facing technical issue resolution.

What We Offer

· Competitive Compensation: Competitive salary with equity/stock option plans to share in our collective success.

· Work-Life Balance: Generous paid time off (PTO) and company holidays.

· Growth & Mentorship: Direct mentorship from seasoned industry experts and rapid career advancement opportunities in a high-growth sector.

· Vibrant Culture: A collaborative, progressive workplace where innovation, learning failures and fresh ideas are celebrated.
