Founding AI Engineer

Role: Founding AI Engineer

Type: Full-time | Founding Team

Location: Flexible / Remote The Vision

AI search is changing how people discover information, evaluate products, and make buying decisions. As users increasingly turn to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and other AI-powered platforms for answers, a new challenge is emerging for businesses:

How do you make sure your company shows up when AI answers a question your customers are asking?

I believe this is becoming a major category of its own. Companies will need better ways to understand, measure, and improve their visibility across LLMs and AI-powered search platforms.

I'm building an AI product around this thesis, and I'm looking for a Founding AI Engineer to help turn this vision into reality.

Who I'm Looking For

I'm not looking for someone who simply knows how to use AI APIs or build applications with the latest frameworks.

I'm looking for someone who can think deeply about technology, understand the product opportunity, challenge assumptions, and move from an idea to a working product at exceptional speed.

You should be equally comfortable thinking about system architecture, experimenting with LLMs, analyzing how AI search works, and making product decisions that directly impact users.

You won't just be implementing someone else's roadmap. You'll help shape what we build, why we build it, and how we win.

What You'll Do

- Build the core product: Design, develop, and ship AI-native products that help businesses understand and improve their visibility across LLMs and AI search engines.
- Experiment at the frontier: Explore how LLMs retrieve, interpret, and cite information, and develop practical ways to measure and influence AI search visibility.
- Own problems end to end: Move from ambiguous problems and rough ideas to prototypes, production systems, and measurable outcomes.
- Build intelligent systems: Work with LLMs, agents, retrieval systems, APIs, data pipelines,

and evaluation frameworks where they make sense.
- Drive product thinking: Understand customer problems, identify high-leverage features, and make sound trade-offs between speed, quality, and complexity.
- Ship relentlessly: Build, test, deploy, learn from real users, and iterate quickly. Progress matters more than perfect plans.
- Help define the engineering culture: Establish the technical foundations, architecture, and development practices that allow a small team to move fast without compromising on quality.

What Matters Most
1. Deep technical understanding

You understand how systems work beneath the abstractions. You can reason about architecture, data, APIs, LLM behavior, performance, and reliability instead of simply stitching together tools.
1. Strong product intuition

You care about why a product should exist, who needs it, and what makes it valuable. You can translate customer pain points into elegant technical solutions.
1. Exceptional execution speed

You know how to move from zero to one. You can prototype quickly, make decisions with incomplete information, and ship usable software without getting stuck in endless planning.
1. First-principles thinking

You question assumptions, investigate how things actually work, and are comfortable tackling problems without established playbooks.
1. Ownership and alignment with the vision

You want to build something meaningful, not just complete assigned tickets. You care about the company's direction and are willing to take responsibility for outcomes.

Technical Background

We're open to different backgrounds,

but experience in some of these areas would be valuable:
- Building and deploying production-grade AI/LLM applications.
- Python, TypeScript, or another solid backend language.
- LLM APIs, agentic systems, RAG, retrieval, and evaluation.
- Web crawling, search infrastructure, information retrieval, and data engineering.
- Building full-stack products, APIs, and scalable backend systems.
- Experimentation, analytics, and measuring the performance of AI-driven systems.

You don't need to check every box. Depth of understanding, quality of thinking, and ability to build matter more than a specific tech stack. This Role Is Not for Everyone

This may not be the right fit if you prefer narrowly defined tasks, need detailed instructions before getting started, or prioritize perfect architecture over learning from a shipped product.

It may be a great fit if you enjoy ambiguity, think like a builder, challenge conventional approaches, and want to help create a category rather than join an established one.

Why Join?

- Be part of the founding team from day one.
- Have meaningful influence over product direction and technical architecture.
- Work on an emerging problem at the intersection of AI, search, and business growth.
- Operate in a high-ownership environment where ideas can become products quickly.
- Have the opportunity to grow with the company as an early team member.

How to Apply Send a brief introduction covering:
1. Something technically challenging you've built and shipped.
2. A product or engineering decision you made that demonstrates your first-principles thinking.
3. How you would approach measuring and improving a company's visibility across AI search platforms.

A GitHub profile, live product, technical write-up, or working demo is more valuable than a polished résumé. I'm looking for builders who see the opportunity, understand the technology, and want to make it happen. If that sounds like you, let's talk.
