Job Summary

Responsible for fabric sourcing, development, costing, procurement, and timely delivery of fabrics as per buyer requirements and production timelines. Coordinate with buyers, fabric mills, suppliers, dyeing and processing units, and internal departments to ensure fabric quality, cost efficiency, and on-time availability for bulk production.

Key Responsibilities

- Fabric Development and Sourcing
- Coordinate fabric development as per buyer tech packs, specifications, and approved samples.
- Source suitable fabrics from mills and suppliers based on quality, price, lead time, and availability.
- Follow up on lab dips, strike-offs, handlooms, fabric swatches, and sample yardage approvals.
- Maintain fabric development records and supplier databases.
- Fabric Costing and Negotiation
- Prepare fabric consumption and costing calculations based on garment requirements.
- Obtain fabric quotations and negotiate prices with mills and suppliers.
- Compare supplier prices, minimum order quantities (MOQ), lead times, and payment terms.
- Monitor fabric cost changes and support target costing.
- Fabric Order Placement and Follow-up
- Place fabric orders based on approved specifications and production requirements.
- Prepare and verify fabric purchase orders, order quantities, widths, GSM, composition, and construction.
- Track greige fabric, dyeing, printing, finishing, and dispatch status.
- Ensure timely fabric delivery to meet cutting and production schedules.
- Quality Control and Approvals
- Coordinate fabric testing for shrinkage, colorfastness, GSM, width, pilling, and other buyer requirements.
- Follow up on bulk fabric shade approvals, hand feel, construction, and finishing.




- Coordinate with the quality team to resolve fabric defects, shade variations, and quality claims.
- Ensure compliance with buyer standards and applicable testing requirements.
- Coordination and Communication
- Coordinate with buyers, suppliers, fabric mills, production, planning, quality, and stores teams.
- Monitor fabric inventory and ensure adequate availability for bulk production.
- Maintain fabric status reports, order tracking sheets, and delivery schedules.
- Escalate delays, shortages, quality issues, and cost variations to management.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain fabric consumption sheets, purchase orders, approval records, and delivery reports.
- Track fabric lead times, supplier performance, and order status.
- Support material planning, inventory control, and production readiness.
- Ensure all fabric-related documentation is updated and accurate.

Required Skills
- Good knowledge of woven and knitted fabrics, fiber composition, construction, GSM, and fabric finishes.
- Understanding of fabric costing, consumption, shrinkage, and wastage calculations.
- Solid supplier follow-up, negotiation, and coordination skills.
- Knowledge of buyer requirements, fabric testing, and quality standards.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, email communication, and merchandising ERP systems.
- Ability to manage multiple styles and meet strict delivery deadlines.

Qualification and Experience
- Graduate or diploma in Textile Technology, Apparel Merchandising, Fashion Technology, or a related field.
- 4–5 years of relevant experience in fabric merchandising, sourcing, or garment export merchandising.
- Experience coordinating with fabric mills, dyeing units, processing houses, and garment production teams.

Pay: ₹41,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
