The Steel Plant Electrician ensures continuous, safe operation of heavy steelmaking equipment—such as electric arc furnaces, rolling mills, cranes, conveyors, and cooling systems—by minimizing electrical downtime and adhering to strict safety codes .

Key Responsibilities

- Troubleshooting &
- Repair:

Diagnose and fix electrical faults in three-phase power systems, AC/DC motors, transformers, high-voltage switchgear, and lighting systems.

- Automation &

- Controls:

Maintain and calibrate Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), sensors, and heavy-duty industrial automation equipment.

- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections of panels, wiring, and grounding systems; oil motors; clean electrical contacts; and run thermal or continuity tests.





- Installation &

- Upgrades:

Read and interpret complex electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to install current conduits, control panels, and power distribution lines.

- Safety &

- Compliance:

Strictly enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, wear mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and comply with industrial safety standards (such as OSHA or local electrical codes).

- Emergency Response: Provide 24-hour on-call or shift coverage to restore power,
