Electrical & Instrumentation Technician / Engineer

Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Salary: ₹30,000 – ₹80,000 per month, depending on qualifications, experience, and technical skills

Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

Deployment: Project sites across India

About the Position

We are looking for skilled, technically competent, and motivated Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians / Engineers to support project execution, installation, commissioning, site supervision, documentation, and client coordination for water and wastewater treatment plants and industrial process systems.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, hands-on project experience, good communication skills, and the flexibility to travel and work at project locations across India.

1. Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess any one of the following qualifications:

- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Electronics Engineering.
- Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
- ITI in Electrical or Instrumentation.

The qualification must be relevant to the Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I;) domain. 2. Experience Requirements

- Minimum 2 years of relevant industrial or project experience.
- Experience in Electrical & Instrumentation installation, execution, maintenance, or commissioning.
- Exposure to industrial water and wastewater treatment projects, including:
- STP – Sewage Treatment Plant
- ETP – Effluent Treatment Plant
- WTP – Water Treatment Plant
- RO – Reverse Osmosis Plant
- ATFD – Agitated Thin Film Dryer
- MEE – Multiple Effect Evaporator
- MVR – Mechanical Vapour Recompression System
- Experience in site supervision, contractor coordination, troubleshooting, and project documentation will be an advantage.

3. Key Roles and Responsibilities Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering

- Understand electrical and instrumentation drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements.
- Support installation, testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical equipment and instrumentation systems.
- Coordinate installation of electrical panels, motors, cabling, earthing, sensors, transmitters, control instruments, and associated equipment, as applicable to the project.




- Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of electrical and instrumentation issues.

Technical Documentation

- Prepare and review technical data sheets and equipment specifications.
- Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ), material lists, and technical proposals.
- Support preparation of client presentations, technical submissions, and project reports.
- Maintain inspection records, testing reports, checklists, and commissioning documentation.

Project Execution and Site Supervision

- Monitor day-to-day site activities and ensure work progresses according to approved drawings and project schedules.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, vendors, and client representatives.
- Prepare daily and weekly site work progress reports.
- Monitor material availability, manpower deployment, and work completion status.
- Support site testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Coordinate activities across multiple project sites when required.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

- Follow applicable electrical safety requirements, project quality procedures, and site-specific HSE guidelines.
- Support ISO-related quality documentation and audit preparation.
- Understand relevant OSHA requirements where applicable, along with Indian statutory and site safety requirements.
- Maintain safety records, inspection documents, and compliance reports.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with approved procedures and project specifications.

Client Coordination and Business Development Support

- Communicate professionally with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Assist in preparing technical and commercial proposals.
- Support client meetings, presentations, and technical discussions.
- Contribute to business promotion, customer relationship management, and market development activities.
- Help identify project opportunities and support the preparation of technical information for prospective clients.

4. Required Technical and Professional Skills





- Strong fundamentals in Electrical & Instrumentation systems.
- Knowledge of electrical drawings, instrumentation layouts, cable schedules, and equipment specifications.
- Ability to prepare technical data sheets, BOQs, proposals, and progress reports.
- Practical knowledge of project execution, site supervision, installation, and commissioning.
- Good documentation, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Familiarity with quality management systems, audits, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD or other relevant engineering software is an advantage.

5. Communication and Leadership Skills

- Positive verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact confidently and professionally with clients.
- Strong planning, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to take responsibility for site activities and project deliverables.

- Basic commercial awareness and understanding of business development activities.

6. Job Location and Travel

- Primary location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
- Candidates must be willing to travel and work at project sites anywhere in India.
- Flexibility to handle multiple project locations based on business requirements is essential.

7. Preferred Candidate Profile

- Candidates with relevant STP, ETP, WTP, RO, ATFD, MEE, or MVR project exposure.
- Candidates with hands-on E&I; execution and commissioning experience.
- Candidates who can independently manage site activities and coordinate with clients.
- Immediate joiners or candidates available at short notice will be preferred.
- Candidates with experience in technical proposals, BOQ preparation, and client presentations will have an added advantage.

8. Compensation and Benefits Salary: ₹30,000 – ₹80,000 per month, based on relevant experience, technical capability, and overall suitability.

The final compensation package will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and interview performance. Project travel and other benefits, if applicable, will be discussed during the selection process.
