Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Dimensional Engineer with robust expertise in Variation Simulation Analysis (VSA), 3D tolerance analysis, GD&T;, and automotive dimensional engineering. The candidate will support vehicle and subsystem development programs by developing dimensional simulation models, predicting variation, optimizing tolerances, and resolving dimensional quality issues throughout the product development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with 3DCS or similar 3D tolerance analysis software , along with a good understanding of CATIA, automotive assembly processes, and dimensional management.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Variation Simulation Analysis (VSA) using 3DCS or similar tolerance analysis tools to predict dimensional variations in automotive systems and subsystems.
- Develop and maintain dimensional simulation models from component level to complete vehicle level.
- Build simulation models in both rigid and compliant environments, as applicable.
- Analyze dimensional variation, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to meet product dimensional targets.
- Apply GD&T; principles to optimize product designs, tolerances, assembly quality, and manufacturing costs.
- Support dimensional engineering activities throughout different phases of automotive product development.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, tooling, and other cross-functional teams to resolve dimensional issues.
- Evaluate tolerance stack-ups, assembly variation, and critical-to-quality characteristics.
- Prepare technical reports, simulation results,
and recommendations for product development teams.
- Coordinate with global engineering teams and client stakeholders to understand project requirements and technical specifications.
- Track project schedules, deliverables, milestones, and technical issues, escalating risks when required.
- Support project planning, effort estimation, technical proposals, scheduling, and commercial quotations.
- Ensure project deliverables meet technical requirements, quality standards, and agreed timelines.
Required Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with 3DCS Variation Analyst or equivalent 3D tolerance analysis software.
- Strong understanding of Variation Simulation Analysis (VSA) and 3D tolerance analysis methodologies.
- Good knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;) standards.
- Understanding of tolerance stack-up analysis and dimensional variation prediction.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of CAD software, preferably CATIA.
- Understanding of automotive vehicle systems, subsystems, and component interfaces.
- Knowledge of manufacturing, tooling, and assembly processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and dimensional specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automobile, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline, with 6+ years of relevant experience; OR
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with 4+ years of relevant experience.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in dimensional engineering, tolerance analysis, or a closely related field.
- At least 4 years of practical VSA experience using 3DCS or a comparable 3D tolerance analysis tool is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in vehicle-level dimensional simulation and automotive assembly variation analysis.
- Experience working with global engineering teams and automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
- Previous experience leading engineering projects, coordinating deliverables, or guiding team members.
- Experience supporting dimensional quality improvement and manufacturing feasibility assessments.
- Strong client-facing communication and project coordination skills.
Key Competencies
- Technical expertise in dimensional engineering and VSA.
- Strong analytical thinking and root-cause analysis.
- Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
- Project planning, prioritization, and delivery management.
- Clear technical reporting and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deliverables.
Application Instructions Interested candidates with relevant experience in Dimensional Engineering, 3DCS, VSA, GD&T;, and automotive product development are encouraged to apply.
