Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and creative Dance Teacher to inspire students through the art of movement. The ideal candidate will design engaging dance programs aligned with CBSE standards, foster artistic expression, and promote physical and cultural awareness. Responsibilities include choreographing performances, organizing events, and integrating dance with cross-curricular learning to enrich the school's holistic education approach.

Responsibilities

Ø Plan and deliver dynamic dance lessons for students focusing on technique, creativity, and cultural diversity.

Ø Prepare students for inter-school and intra-school competitions, Annual Day, and cultural programmes hosted and participated in by the school.

Ø Coordinate rehearsals, costumes, backstage arrangements, and props for all dance-related events.

Ø Manage music cues, microphones, lighting, and sound coordination during performances.

Ø Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages self-expression, discipline, and confidence.

Ø Assess student progress through performances, practical demonstrations, and skill-based evaluations.

Ø Provide constructive feedback to students and parents, highlighting achievements and growth areas.

Ø Collaborate with other teachers to integrate dance into interdisciplinary themes (e.g., history, literature, festivals).

Ø Manage dance resources, costumes, and equipment while ensuring a safe and organized space for dancing.

Ø Promote awareness of diverse dance forms (classical, contemporary, folk, etc.) and encourage fitness discipline.

Ø Actively contribute to the school's co-curricular and extra-curricular programs through dance-based activities and performances.

Ø Ensure punctuality, safety, and smooth execution of all dance-related events.

Skills

Ø Proficiency in multiple dance styles (e.g., Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Contemporary, Ballet, or Folk).

Ø Strong knowledge of dance theory, history,



and CBSE performing arts standards.

Ø Ability to motivate students and adapt instruction for varying skill levels.

Ø Excellent communication and classroom management skills.

Ø Tech-savvy (e.g., experience with music/video editing tools for performances).

Ø Musicality, creativity, and artistic expression.

Ø Digital music editing and basic audio-video handling.

Ø Student assessment, feedback, and performance evaluation.

Ø Knowledge of cultural traditions and appropriate representation.

Key Qualifications for the Role

Ø Bachelor's degree in Dance, Performing Arts, or related field (e.g., Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Folk, or Creative Movement)

Ø B.Ed. or equivalent teaching certification (preferred)

Ø 1–2+ years of experience teaching dance in a CBSE/ICSE environment (advantageous)

Ø Portfolio or demonstration of choreography for school productions and competitions.

Ø Familiarity with CBSE performing arts curriculum and assessment methods.
