Role Summary

We are looking for an accountant to maintain our books and handle statutory compliance, mainly GST returns and TDS on salaries. You will keep our filings accurate and on time, and be the person who knows our compliance calendar.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting

- Maintain day-to-day books of accounts (sales, purchases, receipts, payments, journal entries) in Tally or similar software
- Prepare bank reconciliations and monthly trial balances
- Manage invoicing, vendor payments and receivables follow-up

GST Compliance

- Prepare and file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B within due dates
- Reconcile purchase data with GSTR-2B and claim eligible Input Tax Credit
- Handle the annual return (GSTR-9) and reconciliation, where applicable
- Maintain GST working papers and respond to notices or portal queries, with guidance from our CA

Payroll and Salary TDS

- Process monthly salaries, including attendance inputs, deductions, PF/ESI where applicable, and payslips
- Compute TDS on salary under Section 192 as per the employee’s chosen tax regime
- Collect and verify investment declarations and proofs
- Deposit TDS of the following month




- File quarterly TDS returns (Form 24Q) and issue Form 16 to employees
- Resolve defaults or mismatches on TRACES

General

- Track the statutory compliance calendar and flag upcoming due dates
- Coordinate with our CA/auditor for year-end closing and other filings
- Maintain organized records for audit and assessment

Required Qualifications and Skills
- B.Com / M.Com or equivalent; CA Inter, CMA or a diploma in GST/Taxation is a plus
- Hands-on experience filing GST returns on the GST portal
- Working knowledge of salary TDS, Form 24Q and TRACES
- Proficiency in Tally Prime and MS Excel
- Valuable understanding of Indian accounting and tax rules
- Attention to detail and a habit of meeting deadlines
- Working knowledge of English and Malayalam preferred

Good to Have
- Experience in an IT/services company
- Familiarity with e-invoicing, TDS on non-salary payments (194C, 194J, etc.) and professional tax
- Experience with payroll software
