1. Job Summary

The Senior Executive – Cathode Mixing will be responsible for managing cathode slurry preparation for lithium-ion battery manufacturing. The role involves raw material handling, batch preparation, mixing process control, slurry quality monitoring, equipment operation, and coordination with the electrode coating team to ensure consistent slurry quality and production efficiency.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Execute cathode slurry preparation as per approved recipes, process parameters, and SOPs.
- Handle cathode active materials, conductive additives, binders, and solvents in accordance with material specifications and safety requirements.
- Perform weighing, dosing, premixing, dispersion, and final mixing operations.
- Monitor mixing parameters, including mixing speed, time, temperature, vacuum level, and sequence of material addition.
- Ensure uniform dispersion, appropriate viscosity, solid content, and slurry homogeneity.
- Conduct in-process quality checks and coordinate with the quality team for slurry testing and release.
- Monitor slurry properties such as viscosity, solid content, density, and particle dispersion, as applicable.
- Ensure proper operation and cleaning of mixers, dispersers, vacuum systems, transfer pumps, and slurry filtration equipment.
- Maintain batch records, material traceability, process logs, and production documentation.
- Coordinate with the cathode coating team to ensure timely availability of approved slurry.
- Identify process deviations, investigate root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Minimize material wastage, batch rejection, contamination, and equipment downtime.
- Follow FIFO/FEFO, material storage, moisture-control,



and contamination-prevention practices as applicable.
- Support process trials, new material qualification, recipe optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with EHS guidelines, PPE requirements, and safe chemical handling procedures.

3. Technical Skills Required
- Knowledge of lithium-ion battery cathode slurry preparation and mixing processes.
- Understanding of cathode active materials such as NMC, LFP, or other relevant chemistries.
- Familiarity with conductive carbon additives, PVDF binders, and NMP-based slurry systems, as applicable to the plant process.
- Understanding of material dosing, dispersion, mixing sequences, viscosity control, and slurry rheology.
- Experience with planetary, high-speed disperser, or other industrial slurry mixing equipment.
- Knowledge of slurry quality testing, including viscosity, solid content, density, and dispersion checks.
- Familiarity with SOPs, SPC, 5S, CAPA, root cause analysis, and process troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge of PLC/HMI-controlled equipment and preventive maintenance coordination.

4. Educational Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech./Diploma in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Polymer, or related engineering disciplines.
- Relevant experience in lithium-ion battery electrode manufacturing is preferred.

5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Cathode slurry batch acceptance rate.
- Slurry quality consistency and specification compliance.
- Batch preparation cycle time and production output.
- Material utilization and slurry wastage.
- Batch rejection and rework rate.
- Equipment availability and downtime.
- Adherence to SOPs, safety, and documentation requirements.

6. Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates should have hands-on experience in cathode slurry preparation within a lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate should possess solid process knowledge, attention to detail, troubleshooting ability, and experience in maintaining slurry quality and production targets.
