Job Summary
The Hostess is responsible for welcoming guests to the restaurant or F&B; outlet, managing table reservations and seating arrangements, and ensuring a smooth and pleasant dining experience. The role plays a key part in creating the first impression of the restaurant and maintaining guest satisfaction through skilled hospitality and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Welcome & Seating
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival at the restaurant or outlet.
- Escort guests to their tables and ensure comfortable seating arrangements.
- Provide menus and introduce the restaurant concept or daily specials.
Reservation Management
- Handle table reservations through phone, email, or in-person requests.
- Maintain reservation logs and manage table allocation efficiently.
- Coordinate with restaurant team for special requests and VIP bookings.
Guest Flow & Table Management
- Monitor table occupancy and manage waiting lists during peak hours.
- Ensure optimal seating arrangements to maximize restaurant capacity.
- Coordinate timely table turnover without compromising guest experience.
Guest Relations
- Interact with guests to ensure satisfaction and comfort during arrival.
- Assist in handling guest preferences, special occasions, and VIP guests.
- Address basic guest queries and escalate concerns when necessary.
Coordination with F&B; Team
- Work closely with service staff, supervisors, and kitchen team for smooth operations.
- Communicate guest requirements, allergies, or special instructions.
- Ensure timely table readiness and service coordination.
Appearance & Ambience Standards
- Ensure reception and entrance area is clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Maintain professional grooming and hotel brand appearance standards.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive dining atmosphere.
Complaint Handling & Service Recovery
- Handle minor guest concerns politely and professionally.
- Escalate major complaints to restaurant manager or supervisor.
- Support service recovery efforts to ensure guest satisfaction.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain daily reservation records, guest feedback, and seating reports.
- Assist in preparing occupancy and reservation reports.
- Report operational issues to management when required.
