Minimum Education Qualification: Post Graduation from a reputed institution
4 - 7 years of experience in Retail banking / SME credit management / Credit Underwriting in Banks / NBFCs
Team player and motivating the team members to achieve the goals
Influential Communication in English and local languages
Analytical skills and ability to process data on computer spreadsheets
Understanding of the underwriting in secured lending, legal and technical aspects
Understanding of risk and its various dimensions like operational risk, credit risk, market risk, etc
Ability to read financial statements, competence to understand cash flows through surrogate means, and calculate eligibility
Comfortable in assessing clients without access to audited financials
Willingness and ability to travel within the city

Job Description

Job Summary
Varthana is looking for a Manager - Credit who will be supervising a team of credit officers, coordinating, coaching, and motivating them to achieve their targets. The incumbent will assist their team members to verify whether all the loan applications are assessed as per the credit policy and whether deviations, if any, are appropriately mitigated and documented. The candidate will be interacting with the customers, assessing them based on personal discussions & interviews,



and ensuring that all files are turned around within an acceptable timeline, and building a solid relationship with them.

Key Role Deliverables

Portfolio Management:
Developing and Managing the School Loans portfolio for the branch. This includes onboarding, monitoring, management, and recovery of school institution loans for the branch.
Ensuring that the portfolio losses are within the portfolio threshold through following appropriate early warning practices by the team and taking appropriate account-level action when necessary.
Ensuring that the team and the portfolio are audit compliant and ready at all times.
Team Leadership & Team Development: Building a high-performing motivated team by working closely with the team members, coaching & mentoring, and leading them as an example
Recruitment: Hiring, and training the credit team on all parameters of credit analysis, monitoring, and taking necessary action to improve the efficiency of the team
Stakeholder Management: Monitoring legal/technical vendors for the quality of work, turnaround time, etc, and ensuring that Varthana gets the best out of them
Due Diligence:
Developing and Implementing appropriate due diligence processes to ensure that the policy parameters are adhered to by the credit team while onboarding recent clients
Understanding the local best practices in underwriting, monitoring, and tailoring makes processes when necessary
