**Job Title: General Manager – Business Operations, Retail & Distribution**

**About the Role**

Pragathy Group is hiring an experienced **General Manager to lead the complete business operations of its Retail and Distribution divisions**, taking overall responsibility for sales growth, profitability, people management and operational efficiency.

Our product portfolio includes household products, home needs and construction-related products such as tarpaulins, ropes, mats and shade nets.

Reporting directly to management, the General Manager will oversee all departments and ensure that business plans, daily operations and team performance align with the company’s objectives. The role requires strong practical knowledge of Sales & Marketing, Finance & Accounts, Inventory, Purchase, Warehousing and Distribution.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Overall Business Operations**

- Take complete ownership of day-to-day operations across the Retail and Distribution divisions.

- Coordinate sales, showroom operations, purchase, inventory, warehouse, logistics, finance, accounts, HR and administration.

- Prepare business plans, operating budgets and department-wise action plans.

- Establish SOPs, approval controls and reporting systems, and ensure consistent implementation.

- Resolve operational issues, remove delays and ensure accountability across departments.

- Oversee facilities, asset maintenance, workplace safety and coordination of applicable compliance requirements.

**Sales, Marketing & Business Growth**

- Set and achieve division-wise, category-wise and team-wise sales and profitability targets.

- Improve showroom performance, customer conversion, average bill value and repeat purchases.

- Expand dealer networks, distribution coverage and institutional sales.

- Plan marketing activities,



promotional campaigns and sales schemes within approved budgets.

- Monitor pricing, discounts, competition and customer feedback.

- Ensure effective customer service and timely resolution of customer and dealer complaints.

**Finance & Profitability**

- Review profit and loss statements, cash flow, margins and operating expenses with the Finance & Accounts team.

- Monitor working capital, credit sales, outstanding collections and supplier payments.

- Control costs and improve profitability without affecting service quality.

- Ensure billing accuracy, cash controls and timely financial reporting.

- Coordinate accounting, audit and statutory compliance activities with the responsible teams.

**Purchase & Inventory**

- Oversee procurement planning, supplier selection, price negotiation and purchase approvals within delegated authority.

- Align purchasing with sales demand, seasonality, stock levels and available funds.

- Maintain product availability while controlling excess inventory.

- Review stock ageing and implement actions for slow-moving and dead stock.

- Ensure regular stock verification and investigate shortages, damages and stock differences.

**Warehouse, Logistics & Distribution**

- Oversee goods receipt, storage, stock transfers, order processing, dispatch and delivery.

- Ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment for retail outlets, dealers and institutional customers.

- Monitor delivery schedules, transport costs, returns and damaged goods.

- Improve coordination between sales,



warehouse and delivery teams.

**People & Performance Management**

- Lead department heads and teams with clear responsibilities, targets and performance measures.

- Plan staffing requirements and coordinate recruitment, onboarding and training.

- Conduct regular operational and performance reviews.

- Maintain staff discipline, productivity and cross-department coordination.

- Submit monthly business reviews to management, highlighting results, concerns and corrective actions.

**Candidate Requirements**

- Proven leadership experience as a General Manager, Business Head, Operations Head or similar role in retail, wholesale or distribution.

- Demonstrated ability to manage complete business operations, multiple departments and business profitability.

- Strong practical knowledge of Sales & Marketing, Finance & Accounts, Purchase, Inventory, Warehousing and Logistics.

- Experience in household products, plastics, hardware, building materials, tarpaulins, ropes, mats, shade nets or related categories is preferred.

- Ability to analyse business reports, identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions.

- Solid leadership, decision-making, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

- Working knowledge of Excel and ERP/accounting software.

- Effective communication skills in Malayalam and English.

- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or a related field; MBA preferred.

**Compensation**

Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience and demonstrated capability.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
