Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) - MySQL, PostgreSQL & Oracle [REMOTE]*

*THE OPPORTUNITY*

We are looking for a *Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE)* to own the reliability, performance, scalability, and automation of our MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle database fleet across on-premises and cloud platforms (AWS, OCI, Azure). This is not a traditional DBA role — it's an engineering role at the intersection of DBA + SRE + Automation. You will build self-healing, highly available, and observable database platforms that scale, with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) database experience as an added advantage.

*WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING - DBRE Focus*

*1. Reliability & SRE Engineering:*

- Define and own SLOs/SLIs/SLAs for database availability, latency, and durability.

- Build self-healing, fault-tolerant architectures: HA, replication, clustering, auto-failover.

- Lead incident management, blameless RCAs, and permanent preventive engineering.

- Design and continuously test Disaster Recovery (DR) & Business Continuity plans.

*2. Automation & Platform Engineering:*

- Treat databases as code. Automate provisioning, scaling, patching, backups, and failover using Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible.

- Build internal DBaaS tools and self-service automation for developers/DevOps.

- Automate safe schema changes, version upgrades, and migrations with minimal/zero downtime.

*3. Performance & Scalability:*

- Deep performance engineering - query optimization, indexing strategies, InnoDB tuning, PostgreSQL vacuum tuning,



Oracle AWR/ASH analysis.

- Capacity planning, storage optimization, and cost optimization for cloud-native databases (RDS, Aurora, Cloud SQL).

- Design data sharding, read-replica scaling, and connection pooling strategies.

*4. Observability & Security:*

- Build comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and observability with PMM, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch, Zabbix.

- Implement security by design - encryption, access control, auditing, compliance, data governance.

*5. Collaboration:*

- Partner with DevOps, Platform, and App teams to embed reliability in CI/CD pipelines.

- Mentor DBAs on SRE principles and maintain runbooks, SOPs, architecture docs.

*WHAT YOU NEED FOR THIS POSITION*

- 3-6+ years of experience as DBA / DBRE / SRE managing large-scale MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle Core databases.

- Strong SRE mindset: Experience with SLO/SLI, error budgets, incident response, and post-mortem culture.

- Expert in MySQL & PostgreSQL internals and Oracle Core (RMAN, Data Guard, OEM, RAC basics).

- Hands-on with cloud-native DB services: AWS RDS/Aurora, OCI, Azure Database.

- Robust scripting in Python/Bash + IaC expertise in Terraform/Ansible.

- Proven experience with backup tools (Percona XtraBackup, pgBackRest, RMAN), replication topologies (async, semi-sync, group replication, logical replication).

- Deep Linux/Unix knowledge and SQL performance tuning expertise.

- Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes for database workloads is a big plus.

- Oracle EBS R12.x DB admin (cloning, patching, upgrades) is an added advantage.

Pay: ₹1,500,000.00 - ₹2,000,000.00 per year
