SENIOR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER – MECHANICAL

We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Development Engineer – Mechanical to join our Product Development team and take ownership of mechanical design and product development activities from concept to production.

Reporting To: Product Development Manager / Head – Product Development

3. JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Product Development Engineer will be responsible for mechanical design, product development, prototyping, testing, and production release. The role requires strong hands-on knowledge of SolidWorks, mechanical design, machining, fabrication, GD&T;, and manufacturing processes, with the ability to develop practical, cost-effective, and reliable products.

4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Mechanical Design

•Design mechanical components, assemblies, machine structures, and mechanisms using SolidWorks.

•Create accurate 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, fits, and GD&T.;

•Select suitable materials and standard mechanical components based on application and performance requirements.

•Review existing designs and implement improvements for performance,



reliability, and cost.

B. Product Development

•Handle product development from concept to final production release.

•Convert concepts and technical requirements into practical and manufacturable designs.

•Prepare BOMs, specifications, drawings, and engineering documentation.

•Coordinate with Production, Quality, Purchase, Service, and other teams during development.

C. Prototype & Testing

•Develop and coordinate prototypes with internal workshops and external vendors.

•Conduct assembly trials, functional testing, and product validation.

•Identify design issues and implement necessary modifications based on test results and field feedback.

D. Manufacturing & Vendor Coordination

•Work closely with machining, fabrication, and component vendors for product development.

•Ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing, assembly, and actual shop-floor conditions.

•Resolve manufacturing and dimensional issues and support vendor quality and cost improvement.

E. Production Support & Improvement

•Provide technical support during prototype and production assembly.

•Resolve design-related issues identified during manufacturing and installation.

•Identify opportunities for cost reduction, standardization, and design optimization.





•Continuously improve products based on production, service, and customer feedback.

F. Technical Responsibility

•Review designs and drawings prepared by junior engineers.

•Guide junior team members on mechanical design and development activities.

•Take ownership of assigned projects and ensure completion within defined timelines.

5. REQUIRED SKILLS

•Strong proficiency in SolidWorks – Part Modelling, Assembly, Sheet Metal, and 2D Drawings.

•Positive knowledge of mechanical design, machining, fabrication, welding, and manufacturing processes.

•Practical understanding of GD&T;, tolerances, fits, and material selection.

•Knowledge of DFM/DFA and production-oriented design.

•Ability to read and prepare engineering drawings.

•Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

•Knowledge of AutoCAD, Creo, or other CAD tools will be an advantage.

6. ELIGIBILITY

•Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

•3–6 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and product development.

•Hands-on experience in prototype development, testing, and manufacturing coordination.

•Experience working with machining and fabrication vendors.

•Ability to independently handle design and development assignments.

•Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills.

7. PREFERRED INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

Experience in Coding & Marking Machines, Industrial Automation, Machine Building, Special Purpose Machines, Conveyors, Material Handling, Tooling, Jigs & Fixtures, Packaging Machinery, or Industrial Equipment will be preferred.
