Remote (Worldwide) Type: Contract / Full Time About HLTHHLTH is one of the fastest growing brands of 2026, reaching the top 0.1% in hyper-growth of all stores in the Shopify ecosystem and we're just getting started (literally). At HLTH we believe understanding your health should be effortless. Our products turn health monitoring into clear insights anyone can act on. Before you applyHLTH is an intense environment: we're demanding and ambitious, which means we ask a lot of ourselves and one another. This means fantastic learning, achievements, and career growth, but it also requires a significant commitment. We move fast, standards are high, and ownership is real. This is not a coast job. If you want to be challenged, stretched, and pushed harder than ever before, we invite you to apply. The RoleWe are looking for a Senior Industrial Designer to help define the future of HLTH hardware and wearable experiences. This role is for a designer who thrives between vision and execution, while obsessing over the details of material, form, fit, finish, comfort, manufacturing and user behavior. As a Senior Industrial Designer, you will work hand in hand with the founders across our next generation of products, accessories, and wearables. Collaborating with Product, Growth, and Manufacturing to bring products to market. The candidate who fills this job shapes how HLTH shows up in daily life. The ideal candidate has deep experience designing wearables, complex consumer hardware, has refined taste, ergonomic intuition, and the ability to drive a product from exploration to mass production. Note: While the role is fully remote, travel to factories for key builds may be required.
What You'll Do
Vision & Concept Development
• Drive the full design process from initial ideation to mass production, owning both creative vision and execution quality.
• Introduce breakthrough ideas that challenge category norms and expand our design language across wearables and connected home products.
• Translate market and user insights into design strategies, product architectures, and differentiated physical experiences.
• Advocate for the user’s point of view in cross-functional discussions, connecting insights to design and business goals. Execution, Craft & Human Factors
• Develop and visualize compelling product concepts through sketching, CAD, and high-quality 2D/3D renderings.
• Design across hard goods, soft goods, and hybrid assemblies—integrating plastics, metals, technical textiles, and silicones for on-body and in-home environments.
• Set the bar for design craft—proportion, surface continuity, and detailing that communicates premium design intent.
• Direct the physical prototyping process with factory partners and local fabrication vendors, evaluating appearance models, 3D prints, and wearable samples for fit,
finish, and comfort.
• Drive ergonomic and wearability evaluations on vendor-provided samples to validate human factors and real-world performance. CMF, Technical Delivery & Factory Execution
• Lead CMF direction and own the physical sampling process with suppliers (swatches, resin pucks, golden samples) to ensure every material, finish, and color matches design intent.
• Own end-to-end design documentation, including master surface CAD files, CMF specs, tech packs, product labeling guidance, and design rationale.
• Collaborate closely with global mechanical engineering and manufacturing partners to solve complex packaging and assembly challenges.
• Navigate constraints without sacrificing design quality—ensuring the final product stays true to the original vision while meeting cost, tooling, and production requirements.
• Balance speed and execution quality to ensure efficient handoff and successful mass production.
• Present design concepts and technical recommendations clearly and confidently to internal leadership and manufacturing partners. Must-Have
• Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS, or BFA) in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a closely related field.
• 6+ years of professional industrial design experience shipping physical consumer products from concept through mass production.
• A portfolio demonstrating shipped hardware across both rigid enclosures (plastics, metals) and flexible soft goods (textiles, silicone, or cut-and-sew constructions).
• AI-native mindset: active, bold experimentation with generative AI and emerging tools to radically compress design cycles and explore broader concept spaces, held to the same uncompromising production quality bar as traditional craft.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct user research, ergonomic studies, and fit evaluations, translating human factors insights into physical form.
• Experience developing or expanding a cohesive design language across diverse product categories rather than single-sku lines.
• Advanced proficiency in 3D surface modeling (SolidWorks, Rhino, or Creo), rendering tools (KeyShot), and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Proven experience authoring comprehensive factory deliverables: master surface CAD, detailed CMF matrices, and soft-goods tech packs.
• Practical understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM), draft angles, parting lines,
and collaborating with mechanical engineers on internal packaging constraints.
• Direct experience managing the vendor sampling process, including evaluating physical CMF swatches, reviewing tooling parts (T1/T2), and approving golden samples.
• Experience directing external model shops, rapid-prototyping vendors, or factory partners to produce appearance and functional evaluation samples.
• Working knowledge of modern generative AI design and visualization tools to accelerate early ideation and concept workflows.
• Strong visual, written, and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate design rationale clearly to cross-functional partners and leadership.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple product tracks simultaneously, and maintain execution quality under tight timelines.
• Solid Preference
• Master’s degree (MS / MA / MID) in Industrial Design or related field.
• Prior experience designing body-worn hardware, sleep tech, smart rings, or personal audio devices.
• Understanding of skin-contact materials, sweat resistance, and basic biocompatibility considerations.
• Experience working directly with manufacturing partners and tier-1 suppliers in Taiwan, Vietnam, India, or mainland China.
• Experience working in high-growth consumer hardware startups, direct-to-consumer brands, or agile hardware environments. CompensationPay is based on region and experience, set as a geo-calibrated range. Exact compensation depends on the candidate's skills, level, experience, and track record, and not all candidates will sit at the top of the range. What's in it for you
• Fully remote, flexible hours
• Access to custom AI tooling and workflows
• Flat team, direct access to founders
• Unlimited PTO (with a required recharge time)
• Room to grow as the hardware team scales Our hiring process
• Application and portfolio review
• Screening interview
• Design test (portfolio deep-dive and a short brief) with Founders
• Team interview
• Offer & Compensation (if accepted)
