What Youll Be Doing (position summary):

This role is accountable for shaping, delivering and evolving enterprise-grade data, data product and AI capabilities that support strategic business priorities. The incumbent leads the design, implementation and continuous improvement of scalable data engineering foundations, reusable data products and advanced AI solutions across business-aligned teams. The role combines leadership in data engineering, data product development, advanced analytics, machine learning and GenAI to ensure trusted, high-quality, secure and scalable data products power analytics and AI use cases across the organization. The incumbent also leads, manages and mentors teams while driving cross-functional stakeholder engagement, delivery execution and change management in support of enterprise data and AI initiatives.

How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):

Design and Development:

- Champion the use of data, data products, advanced analytics and AI to solve business problems in order to deliver scalable business-aligned solutions.
- Define, create and implement reusable data products in order to support reporting, analytics, operational decisioning, machine learning and GenAI use cases.
- Lead the implementation and evaluation of AI solutions in order to create, validate, deploy and monitor traditional AI/ML and GenAI capabilities.
- Provide end-to-end solution ownership from scoping and architecture through development, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement in order to deliver enterprise-grade outcomes.

Strategic Planning:

- Support data product strategy and execution in order to align reusable enterprise data assets to business priorities.
- Implement and evolve data engineering standards, product-oriented delivery patterns, reference architectures and reusable frameworks in order to improve consistency and scalability across teams.
- Establish data contracts, schema evolution practices, backward compatibility standards and product ownership principles in order to ensure trusted and reusable data foundations.
- Drive scalable ingestion, transformation and serving patterns in order to enable structured and unstructured data use cases across reporting, analytics, machine learning and GenAI solutions.

Leadership Skills:

- Lead, manage and mentor a high-performing team of data engineers, AI scientists and technical leaders in order to strengthen delivery capability and team performance.
- Set context and direction for the team in order to align work to business unit priorities and CIBCs overall goals.
- Manage performance through constructive, fair and timely feedback in order to support accountability, growth and successful execution.
- Hire the right talent and develop team and individual capabilities through coaching, feedback, learning opportunities and career development support in order to build a strong team aligned to business priorities.

Continuous Improvement:

- Support the lifecycle of data products by defining product requirements, service expectations, consumption patterns, usability standards and improvement mechanisms in order to enhance enterprise data assets.




- Drive robust ELT/ETL frameworks with embedded data quality, metadata, lineage, observability and governance controls in order to improve reliability and trust in data products.
- Seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies in order to strengthen enterprise data and AI capabilities.
- Remove obstacles and enable delivery by setting clear expectations and creating conditions for successful execution in order to improve delivery outcomes.

Operational Efficiency:

- Successfully manage and deliver key data, analytics, data product and AI initiatives in order to provide fit-for-purpose, scalable and reliable solutions aligned to business goals.
- Oversee the development and evolution of data pipelines, data products and platforms in order to strengthen enterprise data engineering and product delivery.
- Collaborate across Information Security, Architecture, Risk, Technology, Data Governance and business teams in order to ensure secure, compliant and enterprise-aligned delivery.
- Embed responsible data and AI practices in order to ensure adherence to CIBC policies, standards and guidelines related to privacy, security, model governance and responsible use of data and AI.

Learning and Development:

- Develop team and individual capabilities through coaching, feedback and learning opportunities in order to strengthen technical depth and leadership capability.
- Promote knowledge sharing across teams in order to advance reusable practices in data engineering, data products and AI delivery.

Experience:15+ years of experience.

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):

- Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or an equivalent quantitative discipline.

Must Have Skills:

- 15+ years of relevant experience.
- Must Have Skills: Demonstrated advanced knowledge of data engineering, data product development, advanced analytics, machine learning and GenAI techniques.
- Strong experience leading enterprise-scale data engineering, data product and AI delivery teams, with people management experience.
- Proven experience creating, implementing and scaling data products that are reusable, governed, discoverable and aligned to business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of data product operating models, including product ownership, consumer-centric design, lifecycle management, service expectations, usage monitoring and continuous enhancement.




- Proven experience designing and delivering complex data and AI solutions on modern enterprise platforms, including Azure, Open Shift and cloud-native tooling such as Kubernetes, API Management, Service Bus, OpenAI and AI Document Intelligence.
- Deep expertise in ELT/ETL frameworks, data pipelines, data quality, metadata, lineage, data contracts, schema evolution and scalable data architecture.
- Experience building high-quality, trusted and reusable data assets for enterprise consumption across reporting, analytics, AI and operational use cases.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Python, SQL, Pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, Tensor Flow, PyTorch and various LLMs.
- Strong software and data engineering background with technologies such as Python, Java, Scala and advanced SQL.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop unique solutions to complex and ambiguous issues and provide interpretive advice to business and functional leaders.
- Strong stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead decision-making across multiple groups and priorities.
- Experience partnering with Data Governance, Risk, Information Security and Architecture teams to embed privacy, security and regulatory controls in data products, engineering and AI solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to seek out innovative solutions, embrace evolving technologies and adapt to new tools and trends.
- Engage with Enterprise Advanced Analytics & AI teams in order to align and deliver integrated data and AI solutions.
