Job Description
Senior Native Mobile Performance Testing Engineer Primary Technologies: Apache JMeter | BlazeMeter | BrowserStack Experience Required: 5–10 Years Primary Specialization: Native Android and iOS Application Performance Engineering Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Senior Native Mobile Performance Testing Engineer with deep expertise in Apache JMeter, BlazeMeter, and BrowserStack to design, develop, execute, and analyze performance tests for enterprise-native Android and iOS applications. This position is specifically focused on native mobile applications installed and executed directly on Android and iOS devices—not mobile websites, mobile browsers, or responsive web applications. The ideal candidate will have strong proven experience testing native mobile application packages (APK/AAB and IPA), combining JMeter/BlazeMeter protocol-level load testing with BrowserStack real-device native application automation to assess end-user responsiveness, application stability, backend scalability, and overall performance. The successful candidate must be capable of independently developing performance test frameworks, implementing realistic native mobile application workloads, executing distributed load tests, automating native application user journeys on real devices, and diagnosing performance bottlenecks across the mobile device, application, network, APIs, and backend infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical engineering position requiring strong scripting, mobile automation, performance analysis, troubleshooting, and technical leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
Native Android and iOS Application Performance Testing
• Design and execute performance tests for native Android and iOS mobile applications, rather than browser-based mobile applications.
• Test installable mobile application packages (APK/AAB and IPA) across real Android and iOS devices.
• Develop realistic workloads representing critical native application business transactions, user journeys, and production usage patterns.
• Measure native application startup and launch times, screen transition times, transaction completion times, responsiveness, and stability.
• Evaluate mobile application CPU utilization, memory consumption, rendering performance, battery impact, and application crashes using appropriate device-level instrumentation.
• Analyze native application performance under Wi-Fi, 4G, 5G, and varying bandwidth, latency, jitter, and packet-loss conditions.
• Identify performance bottlenecks involving native application code, mobile SDKs, device resources, API communication, and backend infrastructure.
• Evaluate performance differences across device models, hardware configurations, Android/iOS versions, and network conditions. JMeter and BlazeMeter Performance Engineering
• Develop, enhance, and maintain sophisticated JMeter scripts that simulate backend API traffic generated by native Android and iOS applications.
• Implement advanced HTTP(S)/REST scripting, correlation, parameterization, JSON processing, authentication handling, and dynamic test data.
• Configure and execute distributed performance tests using BlazeMeter.
• Design and execute load, stress, spike, endurance, capacity, scalability, and resiliency tests.
• Establish realistic workload models covering concurrent users, transaction distribution, pacing, think time, and ramp-up/ramp-down patterns.
• Analyze response-time percentiles, throughput, transaction rates, error rates, and infrastructure utilization.
• Build reusable performance testing frameworks and integrate automated tests into Agile and CI/CD pipelines.
• Correlate backend load-test results with performance observations from native Android and iOS devices. BrowserStack Native Mobile Application Testing
• Configure and execute automated native Android and iOS application tests using BrowserStack's real-device infrastructure.
• Use BrowserStack App Automate, App Live, and applicable real-device capabilities for testing installed mobile applications.
• Develop and maintain native mobile automation scripts using Appium or equivalent mobile automation frameworks.
• Automate application launches, native screen navigation, user interactions, and critical business transactions.
• Execute native mobile application automation scenarios in parallel with JMeter/BlazeMeter protocol-level load tests.
• Measure native application responsiveness and end-user experience while backend services are subjected to varying load conditions.
• Capture and correlate automation timings, native application logs, device diagnostics, and backend telemetry through supported BrowserStack capabilities and complementary instrumentation.
• Investigate performance differences across Android and iOS devices, operating system versions, and network configurations. Important: BrowserStack experience must involve testing native mobile applications installed on real devices. Experience limited to opening websites in mobile browsers through BrowserStack does not meet the primary requirement. Performance Analysis and Technical Leadership
• Define comprehensive native mobile application performance testing strategies, test plans, workload models, SLAs, SLOs, SLIs, and measurable acceptance criteria.
• Perform detailed performance diagnostics and root cause analysis using Dynatrace,

Datadog, AppDynamics, Splunk, or comparable observability platforms.
• Correlate native application behavior with API latency, distributed traces, application logs, and infrastructure metrics.
• Evaluate performance risks associated with mobile application releases, operating system updates, SDK changes, and backend architecture modifications.
• Collaborate with native Android/iOS developers, DevOps, application architecture, and infrastructure teams.
• Assess testing environment readiness, device coverage, monitoring availability, and test-data requirements.
• Participate in Agile sprint activities and incorporate native mobile performance testing into continuous delivery.
• Prepare comprehensive performance reports, bottleneck analyses, and actionable recommendations.
• Provide technical guidance to performance engineers while remaining actively involved in scripting, automation, execution, and troubleshooting. Required Technical Skills
• Apache JMeter: Advanced scripting, HTTP(S)/REST protocols, correlation, parameterization, assertions, workload modeling, and distributed execution.

Technical Screening Questions
• Native Application Experience Describe your experience performance testing installed native Android and iOS applications. What native application performance metrics have you captured, and what tools did you use? How does your approach differ from testing websites in mobile browsers?
• JMeter + BlazeMeter + BrowserStack Integration Explain how you would execute a BlazeMeter/JMeter backend load test while simultaneously running automated native Android and iOS application scenarios on BrowserStack real devices. How would you correlate the results?
• Native Mobile Performance Bottleneck Analysis A native iOS or Android application experiences slow screen transitions and delayed API-driven updates during high backend load. How would you determine whether the bottleneck originates from native application processing, device resources, network conditions, APIs, or backend services?
• Native Mobile Application Performance Profiling What tools and techniques have you used to measure native application startup time, CPU consumption, memory utilization, rendering performance, battery impact, and application crashes? Which metrics can you obtain through BrowserStack, and which require complementary diagnostic tools?
• Native Mobile Performance Framework Development Describe how you would build an enterprise native Android/iOS performance testing framework from scratch using JMeter, BlazeMeter, BrowserStack, and Appium. Include native application automation, workload modeling, real-device testing, monitoring, reporting, and CI/CD integration. Important distinction for the recruiting team Area Required for this position? Native Android application testing (installed APK/AAB) Mandatory Native iOS application testing (installed IPA) Mandatory JMeter and BlazeMeter API load testing Mandatory BrowserStack real-device native app testing Mandatory Appium native application automation Mandatory Native application performance diagnostics Mandatory BrowserStack mobile browser testing Nice to have only Responsive/mobile website testing Nice to have only Traditional desktop web performance testing Nice to have only Recruiter screening guidance: Candidates whose BrowserStack experience is limited to testing websites in Chrome on Android or Safari on iOS should not be considered qualified based on that experience alone. The primary requirement is demonstrated performance testing of installed Android and iOS applications, including native application automation, device-level performance analysis, and concurrent backend load testing. Senior vs. Junior — Responsibility comparison This matrix can help recruiters distinguish between the two positions. Competency Junior Engineer (2–4 years) Senior Engineer (5–10 years) JMeter Develop and maintain scripts Architect complex scripts and frameworks BlazeMeter Configure and execute tests Design distributed workload strategies BrowserStack Execute and maintain native app tests Architect real-device testing solutions Appium Develop and execute automation Design and troubleshoot automation frameworks Workload modeling Execute predefined models Design production-representative workloads Mobile diagnostics Collect and interpret metrics Perform advanced diagnostics and profiling APM Monitor and identify anomalies Perform root cause analysis Test strategy Follow established strategies Define strategy and acceptance criteria Reporting Prepare execution summaries Deliver detailed recommendations Leadership Collaborate and learn Mentor engineers and lead implementation Recommended screening priorities — Junior role My recommendation: For this junior position, emphasize demonstrated JMeter scripting capability and actual native mobile application testing experience. Candidates should have practical exposure to BlazeMeter, BrowserStack, and Appium, but they should not be expected to independently architect an enterprise performance framework. The key hiring distinction is that the Senior Engineer designs and leads the native mobile performance testing solution, while the Junior Engineer develops scripts, executes tests, analyzes initial results, and maintains automation within that solution.
