• Develop, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Perform manual testing across web applications and mobile apps on Android and iOS, including functional, regression, compatibility, usability, installation/update, and device/OS-specific scenarios.
• Validate mobile-specific scenarios such as installation/upgrade, permissions, notifications, deep links, orientation, background/foreground behavior, offline/poor-network conditions, and different screen sizes.
• Perform testing on physical devices and emulators/simulators across representative Android and iOS versions, and capture device logs/crash details when troubleshooting issues.
• Identify, log, track, and retest defects using tools such as JIRA, Bugzilla, or similar.
• Ensure comprehensive test coverage and maintain traceability between requirements and test cases.
• Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives in an Agile/Scrum environment. Automation Testing Responsibilities
• Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for web applications and, where applicable, mobile applications.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright or Selenium for web UI automation testing; exposure to Appium or a similar mobile automation framework is preferred.
• Candidate should have used Playwright and/or Selenium in previous projects and should be able to create and maintain automation test suites independently. Experience testing Android and/or iOS applications in real projects is also expected.
• Identify suitable manual test cases for automation and improve smoke and regression coverage through automation.
• Analyze automation failures and identify whether issues are related to application defects,
test scripts, test data, or environment/configuration.
• Maintain reusable automation components, page objects, test fixtures, test data, and utilities.
• Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar.
• Generate and review automation execution reports and communicate failures clearly to the development team. Collaboration & Reporting
• Work closely with developers, product managers, and business analysts to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
• Provide timely and detailed test execution status reports to the QA Lead / Project Manager.
• Support UAT by assisting business users and validating fixes.
• Work with developers to improve application testability and contribute to continuous testing practices. Quality Assurance Practices
• Follow industry best practices for QA, including risk-based testing and defect management.
• Ensure compliance with organizational quality standards and processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices, automation coverage, and methodologies. Additional Expectations
• Mentor junior testers by sharing knowledge and reviewing test cases and automation scripts.
• Take ownership of testing for assigned modules or projects with minimal supervision.
• Provide input for test effort estimation and project planning.
• Identify opportunities for test optimization and improvements in QA processes.
• Be able to explain automation framework design, locator strategy, waits, assertions, reporting, test data management, and troubleshooting of flaky tests. Key Skills Required
• Strong knowledge of STLC (Software Testing Life Cycle) and SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
• Proficiency in writing test cases, test scenarios, and explicit bug reports.
• Experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA, Bugzilla, Mantis, or similar.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Good understanding of functional, regression, integration, UAT, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing.
• Basic knowledge of SQL for backend data validation.
• Practical experience with Playwright or Selenium WebDriver.
• Hands-on mobile app testing experience on Android and/or iOS; familiarity with Appium or a similar mobile automation framework is an added advantage.
• Good understanding of Page Object Model (POM), reusable components, assertions, waits, test fixtures, and data-driven testing.
• Experience with at least one programming/scripting language such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Python.
• Basic understanding of API testing and API automation using Postman, REST Assured, Playwright API testing, or similar.
• Familiarity with Git/version control and basic CI/CD concepts.
• Ability to troubleshoot flaky tests and improve automation reliability.
• Understanding of when a test case should be automated versus kept as a manual test.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience testing across multiple browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari/WebKit, and across representative Android/iOS devices and OS versions.
• Experience with mobile app testing, including native/hybrid apps, WebView flows, device permissions, network conditions, app lifecycle, and release validation, is preferred.
• Familiarity with Android Studio/ADB, Xcode device logs, crash logs, or similar mobile debugging tools is an advantage.
• Experience running automation tests in CI/CD pipelines and generating test reports.
• Basic knowledge of performance, accessibility, or security testing is an added advantage.
