Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer – Power Electronics to take ownership of high-density power systems, custom Battery Management Systems (BMS), high-efficiency AC-DC/DC-DC converters, and motor driver architectures. This role is strictly focused on end-to-end hardware development—from concept architecture, component selection, to schematic entry, multi-layer PCB layout, high-current thermal optimization, and initial board bring-up. You will work closely with dedicated Firmware, and Testing teams to deliver power electronics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
● Work on hardware requirement specifications and system-level power architecture for UAV systems. ● Develop and test analog/digital circuitry for AC-DC/DC-DC converters, battery chargers, inverters, and motor drivers. ● Conduct detailed component derating, thermal analysis, and Bill of Materials (BOM) optimization based on market availability, cost, and lead times. ● Create electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and oversee PCBA manufacturing and bring-up. ● Collaborate with the testing and assembly teams to perform prototype validation, system level testing, and thermal test criteria. ● Conduct formal verification and qualification tests (DO-160, DO-254 equivalent). ● Support BMS firmware development and testing (DO-178 or Botlab standards). ● Ensure EMI/EMC compliance and robust design for dynamic aerial conditions. Required Qualifications ●
Education:
B.
Tech / M.
Tech in Electrical / Electronics & Communication Engineering,
or a related field. ● 3+ years of hands-on experience in power electronics hardware design, board layout, and converter topologies. ● CAD Tools: Proficiency in Altium Designer or KiCad (preferred) for both schematic design and multi-layer PCB layout. ● Simulation: Demonstrated experience in circuit simulation using LTspice, PSpice, or Multisim. ● Protocols & Microcontrollers: Experience designing hardware interfaces for ARM Cortex-M architectures (e.g., STM32 series) and industrial communication buses (CAN Bus, UART, USB-PD). ● Manufacturing Awareness: Familiarity with high-power PCB manufacturing rules, layer stackups, surface-mount technology (down to 0402 packages), and fabrication partners. Nice to Haves ● Hands-on experience with Wide Bandgap (WBG) devices like GaN (Gallium Nitride) FETs and SiC MOSFETs. ● Thermal simulation skills using ANSYS, SolidWorks Flow Simulation, or equivalent tools. ● Familiarity with drone/UAV power delivery standards, high-power battery chemistry, and BVLOS safety posture. ● Knowledge of EMI/EMC compliance testing and mitigation techniques for power converters. Why Join BotLab Dynamics? ● Be part of a team building India’s leading drone technology. ● Work on cutting-edge UAV systems used in swarm shows, defense, and commercial applications.. ● Gain hands-on experience across R&D;, product development, and field deployment. ● Collaborate in a rapid-paced, innovation-first environment that values creativity and engineering rigor.
