Position Overview: As our Founding IT Systems, Infrastructure & Asset Management Specialist, you will wear multiple hats to own, scale, and secure our entire operational footprint. You will bridge the gap between day-to-day corporate IT logistics and high-performance GPU computing. In this role, you will balance tracking high-value physical and software assets with deep hands-on infrastructure tasks like configuring network fabrics, tuning Linux kernels, and ensuring our core GPU stacks run at maximum utilization. This is an autonomous role built for a highly organized, technical problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Asset Management, Procurement & Logistics (35%)
• Hardware Lifecycle Management: Track, audit, and manage the full lifecycle of high-value physical hardware, including GPU server nodes, development laptops, switches, and peripheral accessories.
• Vendor & RMA Logistics: Own vendor relationships, negotiate procurement pricing, handle international/domestic shipping logistics, and manage RMA processes for faulty hardware component replacements.
• SaaS & License Governance: Audit and optimize enterprise software usage (e.g., Slack, GitHub, IDE licenses, Cloud compute credits) to eliminate cost inefficiencies and maximize seats.
• Compliance & Inventory Audits: Maintain precise infrastructure inventories and hardware asset registers, preparing the company for imminent security compliance benchmarks (such as SOC 2 Readiness). Startup IT & Network Operations (35%)
• Identity & Access Control: Provision, manage, and deprovision secure user access frameworks across Google Workspace, Okta, Microsoft 365, and localized SSH keys.
• Office & Lab Networking: Set up, secure, and monitor office/lab local networks, managing Wi-Fi access points, physical routers, firewalls, and reliable VPN networks for remote engineers.
• Device Deployment:
Deploy and maintain Mobile Device Management (MDM) setups to automatically configure, encrypt, and secure employee endpoints (Mac, Linux, Windows). GPU Server & Linux System Administration (30%)
• GPU Environment Isolation: Maintain host OS layers (Ubuntu Server, Rocky Linux) and manage the core AI compute runtime stack, including NVIDIA base drivers, CUDA toolkits, and the NVIDIA Container Toolkit via Docker.
• High-Performance Storage: Configure and manage local network storage (NAS/NFS solutions) to reliably feed training datasets to GPU infrastructure without bottlenecks.
• Telemetry & Alerts: Deploy straightforward, lightweight monitoring hooks (such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Node Exporter) to track critical hardware health metrics, preventing data corruption or server thermal throttling. Required Qualifications &
Skills:
• The Ultimate Generalist: 3-5+ years of combined experience spanning enterprise IT support, Linux systems administration, and basic hardware asset/inventory tracking.
• Linux Proficiency: High comfort operating inside a Linux shell workplace (SSH, package management, bash automation scripting).
• GPU Awareness: Hands-on experience resolving dependencies, broken driver paths, or container device mappings for NVIDIA hardware runtimes.
• Organizational
Skills:
Meticulous tracking habits. You enjoy creating a clean inventory out of chaos and implementing organized operational systems.
• Startup Mentality: Extreme autonomy. You are comfortable running point on critical physical/virtual tasks without an existing employee manual. Preferred & Bonus Assets:
• Prior experience designing asset registers for SOC 2 or ISO 27001 standard approvals.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) or Configuration Management tools (Ansible).
• Experience configuring shared clusters via lightweight job schedulers (such as Slurm)
