3–5 Years (preferably in road, bridge and highway projects) Department: Quality Control (QC) Reporting To: QC Engineer / QA-QC Manager Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and technically competent Civil Lab Technician for our ongoing KIIFB infrastructure projects in Kerala. The candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory and field quality-control tests on construction materials, including soil, aggregates, concrete and bituminous materials, ensuring compliance with relevant IS Codes, MoRTH specifications, IRC guidelines and project-specific quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
1. Material Testing & Quality Control
• Conduct routine laboratory and field tests on soil, aggregates, cement, concrete and bituminous materials.
• Perform sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, moisture content, Proctor compaction and CBR tests.
• Carry out aggregate testing, including impact value, crushing value, abrasion value, specific gravity, water absorption, flakiness and elongation indices.
• Conduct concrete slump tests, cube casting, curing and compressive strength testing.
• Perform bituminous mix testing, including binder content, gradation, Marshall stability and flow, where applicable.
• Ensure all test results meet approved project specifications and acceptance criteria. 2.



Field Testing & Site Quality Control
• Conduct field density tests for embankment, subgrade, GSB and WMM layers.
• Monitor compaction, moisture content and material quality during road construction.
• Collect representative samples of construction materials for testing.
• Coordinate with site engineers and QC personnel to ensure timely testing and clearance of construction activities.
• Identify nonconforming materials and promptly report deviations to the QC Engineer. 3. Laboratory Management & Documentation
• Maintain daily laboratory test registers, records and quality-control reports.
• Ensure proper operation, maintenance and calibration of laboratory testing equipment.
• Maintain material sample identification, traceability and test documentation.
• Assist in preparing quality-control documentation for Engineer/Authority inspections.
• Coordinate with approved external laboratories for specialized and third-party testing. 4. Compliance & Coordination
• Follow applicable IS Codes, MoRTH specifications, IRC guidelines and approved Quality Assurance Plans (QAP).
• Support inspections and quality audits conducted by project consultants and client representatives.




• Coordinate with site engineers, QC engineers and construction teams to maintain required quality standards. Educational Qualifications
• Diploma in Civil Engineering preferred.
• ITI or equivalent technical qualification with relevant construction material testing experience may be considered.
• Relevant training or certification in construction material testing will be an advantage. Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in civil engineering material testing.
• Experience in highway, road, bridge or major infrastructure projects preferred.
• Practical knowledge of soil, aggregate, concrete and bituminous material testing.
• Familiarity with IS Codes, MoRTH specifications and IRC standards.
• Ability to independently conduct routine laboratory and field tests.
• Competence in maintaining test registers, documentation and reports.
• Basic computer proficiency, including MS Excel.
• Ability to work at project sites across Kerala. Preferred CandidateCandidates with previous experience in KIIFB, PWD, NHAI, NHIDCL or similar major road and infrastructure projects will be given preference.
