• Select suitable ADCs, amplifiers, FPGAs, processors, clock generators, memory devices, power-management ICs, and interface components.
• Evaluate component availability, lifecycle, cost, performance, and long-term product sustainability.
• Coordinate hardware interfaces with FPGA and embedded Linux teams. B. Analog front-end (AFE) design
• Design high-bandwidth analog front-end circuits for oscilloscope applications.
• Develop input attenuation and gain-selection networks, including switched attenuators and programmable gain stages.
• Design low-noise, high-bandwidth amplifier stages and signal-conditioning circuits.
• Design input impedance, coupling, offset adjustment, termination, and protection circuits.
• Implement AC/DC coupling and input range selection.
• Design anti-aliasing and other appropriate analog filtering stages.
• Evaluate noise, bandwidth, gain accuracy, linearity, distortion, offset, and dynamic range.
• Design trigger signal-conditioning paths and coordinate analog and digital triggering requirements.
• Understand the effects of parasitic capacitance, PCB layout, impedance discontinuities, and component tolerances on analog performance. C. High-speed ADC and data acquisition hardware
• Select and integrate high-speed ADCs based on the required sample rate, resolution, analog bandwidth, and dynamic performance.
• Design ADC input, reference, clock, power, and support circuitry.
• Implement high-speed interfaces such as JESD204B/JESD204C or LVDS/CMOS ADC interfaces, as applicable.
• Design clock distribution and low-jitter sampling-clock circuits.
• Evaluate clock phase noise, aperture jitter, ADC SNR, SFDR, ENOB, and spurious performance.
• Coordinate with the FPGA engineer on ADC data capture, clocking, synchronization, and interface timing.
• Develop hardware supporting acquisition memory, pre-trigger/post-trigger capture, and multi-channel synchronization.

• Work on hardware architecture for different acquisition modes and sampling configurations. D. High-speed PCB design and signal integrity
• Develop complex multilayer PCBs for mixed-signal and high-speed digital systems.
• Define PCB stack-up, controlled-impedance routing, differential-pair requirements, grounding, and return-current paths.
• Design high-speed interfaces involving ADCs, FPGAs, DDR memory, Ethernet, USB, PCIe, or other relevant interfaces.
• Apply signal-integrity and power-integrity principles to high-speed digital and precision analog designs.
• Manage isolation between noisy digital circuitry and sensitive analog sections without compromising return paths or overall EMC performance.
• Review PCB layouts for routing quality, timing constraints, coupling, crosstalk, and manufacturability.
• Coordinate with PCB layout engineers and fabrication/assembly vendors. E. Power supply and clock architecture
• Design power-tree architecture for analog, ADC, FPGA, processor, memory, and peripheral sections.
• Select and implement DC-DC converters, LDOs, reference supplies, sequencing circuits, and power monitoring.
• Manage power integrity, thermal dissipation, supply noise, and transient response.
• Develop clock-generation and clock-distribution architectures.
• Ensure low-noise supply rails for precision analog and high-speed sampling circuits. F. Hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation
• Lead initial PCB bring-up, power-on checks, and subsystem validation.
• Debug complex hardware issues using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, VNAs, and other laboratory equipment.
• Validate ADC performance, analog bandwidth, noise floor, gain accuracy, offset accuracy, linearity, and channel isolation.
• Perform hardware characterization, root-cause analysis, and design improvements.
• Support EMC/EMI, ESD, thermal, reliability, and safety testing.
• Develop hardware validation procedures, test plans, and engineering reports.
• Support prototype iterations and transition the design to production. G. Documentation and cross-functional collaboration
• Prepare schematics, BOMs, design calculations, interface documents, and hardware specifications.
• Maintain component selection records, design reviews, and engineering change documentation.
• Work with firmware, FPGA, mechanical, quality, testing, sourcing, and manufacturing teams.
• Support prototype procurement, vendor discussions, DFM/DFT reviews, and production ramp-up.
• Take ownership of hardware milestones, technical risks, and issue closure. 3.
