What You'll Do

- Own a service end to end: schema, API, deployment, dashboards and alerts.
- Make failure cases boring: idempotency, retries, timeouts, dead-letter handling, and a reconciliation job that catches what they miss.
- Write design notes before large changes, and give code reviews that improve the code.
- Debug production issues using logs, metrics and traces, and fix the root cause, not the symptom.

Skills & Experience Required

- 5+ years building backend systems that real users depend on.
- Strong fundamentals in at least one of: Rust, Go, Java, Python or Node.js.
- Experience with distributed systems: queues/streams, retries, idempotency, caching and invalidation, and zero-downtime migrations.
- Strong SQL skills: schema design, indexing, transactions, query plans, and optimising slow queries.
- Working experience with at least one NoSQL database.
- Hands-on AWS experience: ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, SQS/SNS, IAM and CloudWatch, including deploying and debugging your own services.
- REST API design: versioning, error handling, pagination and authentication.
- Good habits with Git, CI/CD and testing.
- Clear written communication, including design notes.

- Payments, lending or banking backend experience: UPI, NPCI, KYC, credit bureaus, collections or ledgers.
- Event-driven systems in production: Kafka, SQS, Temporal, CDC or the outbox pattern.
- Rust experience, or a willingness to learn it (our core service is Rust on ECS).
- LLM-based features in production, with evaluation and cost control.
- Open-source contributions, a side project people actually use, or a competitive programming record.
- Early-stage startup experience.
