Structural Engineer – Gas Turbines & Rotating Machinery
Hycosys | Full time | On-site, Whitefield, Bengaluru
Take a component from its first load case to hardware validation.
Hycosys is developing hydrogen-capable micro gas turbines and high-speed turbomachinery. We are looking for a structural engineer who can connect sound mechanics, finite element analysis and experimental evidence to practical design decisions. This role focuses on mechanical components and rotating machinery, rather than building or civil structures.
What you will work on
- Perform static, modal, harmonic and transient finite element analyses under mechanical, thermal and rotational loads.
- Assess stress, deformation, vibration and thermo-structural behaviour of components and assemblies.
- Evaluate fatigue and component life, including LCF, HCF and creep where applicable.
- Improve shafts, discs, casings, housings and related hardware for stiffness, durability, weight and manufacturability.
- Support test planning and instrumentation, correlate predictions with test data, and update models when the evidence changes.
- Work closely with design, rotordynamics, combustion and manufacturing engineers to resolve risks before and during prototype builds.
- Document assumptions, margins and engineering decisions clearly.
What you should bring
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of industrial experience in structural analysis of turbomachinery or high-speed mechanical systems.
- Strong fundamentals in solid mechanics, structural dynamics, vibration and fatigue.
- Hands-on proficiency in ANSYS Mechanical and/or NASTRAN, including thermal and coupled thermo-structural analysis.
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks or Creo.
- Experience supporting experimental testing and communicating analysis results across engineering teams.
Helpful additional experience
Hot-section components; nonlinear contact or plasticity; creep and thermo-mechanical fatigue; strain gauges, accelerometers, proximity probes or thermocouples.
Why Hycosys
Work close to hardware and follow your analysis through design changes, manufacturing and testing. Contribute to the development of engineering workflows, including AI-assisted tools and automation, while retaining responsibility for the physics and validation.
Location and compensation
On-site in Whitefield, Bengaluru. Competitive compensation aligned with experience and industry benchmarks.
How to apply
Apply through this LinkedIn listing with your CV. Please include a short, non-confidential example of a structural problem you solved: your contribution, the key assumptions and how you checked the result.
