Position: Senior Architect, Java Lead – Banking

Location: Hyderabad, India (Onsite at client premises)

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Senior Architect / Java Lead to design and govern end-to-end solution architecture for a major banking client's digital platforms in Hyderabad. In this hands-on, onsite role, you will lead engineering teams to build microservices and API-first architectures across retail and corporate banking applications, ensuring non-functional execution across availability, performance, scalability, security, and disaster recovery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Architecture & Modernization

- Define, design, and govern end-to-end solution architecture for retail and corporate banking platforms.
- Establish design principles, technical standards, and reusable frameworks.
- Drive legacy banking application modernization into scalable, microservice-based architectures.

Cloud-Native & Containers
- Design Kubernetes- and OpenShift-based microservices and API-first architectures across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Manage containerization, service discovery, ingress, scaling, secrets, service mesh, and multi-cluster disaster recovery (DR).

Integration & Security
- Design secure integrations connecting digital channels, core banking systems, payment gateways, and identity platforms.
- Establish API standards for REST, lifecycle management, versioning, and backward compatibility.
- Implement robust authentication protocols including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SSO, and IAM.

Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) & Governance
- Own system scalability, high availability, resilience, data privacy, observability, and capacity planning.
- Run design reviews, conduct Proofs of Concept (PoCs), and ensure compliance with regulatory, audit,



and security standards.
- Resolve high-level architecture production incidents and performance bottlenecks.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead technical design across multiple engineering teams and mentor tech leads and senior developers.
- Communicate architectural roadmaps, risks, and trade-offs to senior business and technology stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Must-Have Skills

- Experience: 6 to 8 years overall experience in enterprise application design and software development, with significant experience in banking or financial services.
- Architecture: Deep expertise in enterprise solution architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Event-Driven Architecture, and REST API design patterns.
- Backend & Integration: Solid hands-on proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, REST API gateways, Kafka/messaging systems, and OAuth 2.0/OIDC security frameworks.
- Containers & DevOps: Direct experience with Docker/OCI, Kubernetes or OpenShift, Helm, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and observability tools.
- Data Systems: Strong background in Oracle or PostgreSQL database architecture, Redis caching, and high-availability replication.
- Domain Expertise: Practical background with retail/corporate banking journeys, core banking, and payment integrations in regulated environments.

Bonus Qualifications

- Prior architecture ownership on a live digital banking platform or large-scale transformation initiative.
- Certifications: TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP Cloud Architect, CKA, or CKAD.
- Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.

Location Requirement

- Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to Hyderabad prior to joining.
