About Aindra Systems
Aindra Systems (www.aindra.in) is an early-stage deep-tech startup based in Bengaluru. We build AI-powered diagnostic systems that help detect life-threatening diseases like cancer faster and more accurately. Our products combine optics, mechatronics, computer vision and artificial intelligence. We’re proud to be one of the few deep-tech healthcare companies in India building hardware and AI together, from the ground up.
The Role
We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop the physical side of our diagnostic devices. This is a hands-on design role. You’ll take parts and assemblies from concept to prototype to production, and make sure they work well, can be manufactured and are easy to use.
You’ll work closely with our optics, electronics and software teams, and with vendors and manufacturers. If you enjoy solving real engineering problems and want your designs to reach hospitals and labs, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
- Design mechanical parts, enclosures and multi-module assemblies for medical devices
- Integrate optical components, electronics and moving mechanisms into compact, reliable designs
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings with GD&T;, and perform tolerance analysis
- Build and test prototypes, including 3D-printed parts, mock-ups and early engineering models
- Apply DFM, DFA and DFS principles in every design
- Work with vendors on part development, sampling and quality checks
- Support design validation, FMEA and design documentation in line with ISO 13485 requirements
- Make design improvements based on testing and field feedback
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3–4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical product design, preferably in MedTech, electronics or precision equipment
- Solid 3D CAD skills (Fusion 360 preferred), including assemblies, exploded views and motion studies
- Good command of GD&T;, engineering drawings and tolerance stack-up
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, including:
- Injection moulding, vacuum casting and silicone moulding
- CNC machining, milling and turning
- Sheet metal fabrication, thermoforming and 3D printing
- Practical prototyping experience
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (electronics, optics, software)
- Awareness of ISO 13485 or other regulated product development processes
Good to Have
- Experience designing of diagnostic, imaging or lab equipment
- Knowledge of medical-grade materials
- Exposure to FMEA and design validation activities
You’ll Thrive Here If You
- Care about both form and function
- Take ownership of your work and enjoy seeing designs through to production
- Solve problems with creativity and engineering discipline
- Communicate clearly and work well across teams
- Are comfortable with the pace, constraints and multiple roles of a startup
What We Offer
- Access to leading academic researchers in mechatronics, biomedical engineering and AI
- The chance to design medical products that directly impact cancer diagnosis
Location: Bengaluru, with local travel to vendors and suppliers
