About the role

We are hiring a General Insurance Underwriter for a Hyderabad-based insurance broking firm. You will handle end-to-end underwriting support for SME and corporate clients: assessing risk, sourcing and negotiating quotes from insurers, and managing policy issuance and servicing through the policy lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

- Assess clients’ business operations, assets, liabilities and risk exposures to understand their insurance needs
- Review existing policies to find coverage gaps and improvements
- Recommend solutions across Property, Liability, Motor, Marine, Engineering and other General Insurance lines
- Obtain quotes from multiple insurers, analyse them, and prepare comparison sheets and recommendations
- Negotiate policy terms, conditions and premium rates with insurers
- Coordinate policy issuance, check policy documents for accuracy, and send final documents with endorsements and certificates




- Handle mid-term endorsements (additions, deletions, corrections) and ongoing client servicing
- Liaise between insurers, internal sales teams and clients to resolve issues
- Report to management on portfolio performance, renewals and underwriting metrics

Requirements

- 12-15 years of experience in insurance broking or general insurance underwriting
- Experience handling SME and corporate insurance portfolios
- Exposure to multiple lines: Property, Liability, Marine, Motor, Engineering, etc.
- Graduate in any discipline (MBA preferred)
- FIII from the Insurance Institute of India is preferred
- Solid negotiation, communication and documentation skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounts
