Role Description The Early Childhood Education Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children in Ampersand’s early childhood programs. This is a full-time, in office role based in Mumbai, working closely with educators, caregivers, and local stakeholders to ensure high-quality care and education in creches, Balwadis, and Anganwadis. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and refining curriculum and lesson plans, modeling effective teaching practices,



and supporting play-based and child-centered learning activities.

The specialist will observe classroom practices, provide coaching and feedback to staff, and ensure that learning environments are safe, inclusive, and aligned with organizational standards and local regulations. The role also involves engaging families and communities through clear communication, maintaining accurate records and reports, and collaborating with internal teams to continuously improve program quality and outcomes.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Early Childhood Education and practical experience working with children in early learning settings.
- Proficiency in Curriculum Development and Education methodologies, with the ability to design age-appropriate, inclusive learning activities.
- Effective Communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with educators, families, and community stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Knowledge of child development milestones, play-based learning, and inclusive education practices.
- Ability to work on-site in Mumbai and collaborate within a diverse, mission-driven team environment.
- Experience with government or community-based early childhood programs is an advantage.
- Fluency in English and familiarity with local languages spoken in Mumbai is beneficial.
