Job Description
The Quality Engineer designs, develops, and maintains automated quality solutions that provide fast, reliable feedback throughout the delivery lifecycle. Working as an embedded member of an Agile engineering team, this role combines exploratory testing with code-based automation across services, interfaces, data flows, and user experiences. Essential Duties &

Responsibilities:
• Translate requirements and acceptance criteria into maintainable automated tests and focused exploratory testing for functional and integration risks.
• Develop automation for APIs, services, web, interfaces, databases, events, and end-to-end business workflows using approved frameworks and coding standards.
• Apply the test pyramid and risk-based coverage principles, emphasizing reliable unit-adjacent, component, API, contract, and integration checks over brittle end-to-end tests.

• Create reusable test utilities, fixtures, page or service objects, data builders, mocks, and service-virtualization assets that improve delivery speed and maintainability.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines; diagnose failures, remove flaky behavior, and keep execution time and feedback quality within team targets.
• Validate positive, negative, boundary, error-handling, authorization, compatibility, accessibility, and recovery scenarios appropriate to the product risk.
• Prepare and manage test data in accordance with privacy, security, masking, retention, and environment-control requirements.
• Review stories, designs, code changes, logs, and telemetry to identify testability gaps and defects before release.
• Document defects with clear evidence, business impact, and reproducible conditions; partner with developers on root-cause analysis and verification.
• Participate in refinement, planning, design discussions, code reviews, quality reviews, and release-readiness activities as a full engineering team member.
• Monitor automation results and quality signals; communicate coverage, failures, residual risk, and readiness without relying on pass-rate alone.
• Contribute improvements to team frameworks, standards, documentation, and engineering practices.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent practical experience.

• Typically 3+ years in software quality engineering or software development with meaningful hands-on test automation experience.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and experience with UI and API automation, SQL, Git, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of HTTP, REST or event-driven integrations, databases, application architecture, and common debugging techniques.
• Ability to design clear test scenarios, write maintainable code, analyze failures across system layers, and balance speed with coverage.
• Strong collaboration, ownership, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication skills. Preferred

Qualifications:
• Experience with cloud platforms, containers, contract testing, performance testing, accessibility testing, or observability tools.
• Exposure to healthcare systems, regulated data, interoperability, or privacy-conscious test-data management.| Additional Information: ELLKAY is committed to fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment that supports innovation, teamwork, and professional growth.
