Your Mission

We are hiring a Tech Principal to work directly with our VP of Technology and the AI Center of Excellence. This is the role that shapes what we build, sets the bar for how we build it, and makes sure every AI engagement we take on lands well.

The role carries three mandates. First, solution shaping: when a client brings a problem, an opportunity, or a half-formed requirement, you turn it into a crisp problem statement, a "what we heard" narrative, a solution architecture, a working prototype, and a user journey, and you present it back and shape the engagement plan. Second, engineering excellence: you work with capability leads to define and raise the AI-native standard across fullstack development, agentic engineering, QA, DevSecOps, and data engineering.

Third, delivery governance: you steer, review, and unblock every AI application and platform project we run so teams ship high-quality software predictably.

You treat AI as the substrate of how software gets built: not a tool to be cautious of, not something you are "exploring," but the medium you work in. You live at the current edge of AI development and work fluently with Claude Code, Cursor, agents, eval harnesses, MCP, and modern TypeScript and Python.

What You ll Do Shape Solutions in Discovery

- Sit with client business, product, and clinical leaders when a problem or opportunity is still forming, and reframe it into a concrete, scoped problem statement in the room.
- Build the "what we understood" narrative that plays the client s problem back to them sharper than they framed it, and earns the right to propose the solution.
- Design the solution end-to-end: target architecture, user flows and journeys, data and integration boundaries, and the riskiest assumptions to validate first.
- Architect cloud-native, enterprise-grade solutions against explicit targets for performance, accuracy, latency, cost, security, and reliability, with infrastructure chosen for fit, not preference.
- Communicate architecture visually: layered architecture diagrams, sequence and data-flow diagrams, and user journeys that client executives and engineers can both read.
- Build working prototypes in days, not weeks, and demo them live without a slide deck.




- Shape the engagement plan with delivery leadership: team shape, phasing, milestones, and the commercial narrative that supports it.
- Lead POCs, innovation sprints, and research experiments to validate emerging AI techniques before they get baked into proposals or platform decisions.

Set the Engineering Standards
- Work with capability leads to define, document, and continuously raise AI-native standards across fullstack application development, agentic engineering, QA, DevSecOps, and data engineering.
- Codify how we build: reference architectures, Claude Code skills and sub-agents, templates, eval harnesses, and structured AI-assisted development workflows that every pod can adopt.
- Author ADRs, standards documents, and scope memos that hold up under review, covering LLM abstractions, retrieval design, vendor selection, integration boundaries, and infrastructure paths.
- Run architecture and design reviews across engagements, and make sure decisions are consistent, deliberate, and written down.
- Mentor senior engineers and capability leads on system design, agentic patterns, and AI engineering practice, and grow the next set of solution shapers.

Govern and Steer Delivery
- Own technical governance across all AI application and platform projects: regular architecture and quality reviews, risk surfacing, and early intervention when a project drifts.
- Define the quality gates that matter, including evals, test coverage, security posture (RBAC, audit trails), reliability, observability, and cost, and hold teams to them without slowing them down.
- Engage client enterprise architecture and security review paths early when they apply, and move with them, not around them.
- Unblock teams directly: get into the codebase, pair on the hard problem, and make the call when a team is stuck between options.
- Keep delivery, client, and leadership views aligned on where each project genuinely stands.
- Feed lessons from delivery back into standards, so every project makes the next one better.

What You Bring
- 12+ years of engineering experience, with architecture-level ownership on multiple production systems and at least 3 years building LLM-powered and agentic applications end-to-end.
- A consulting or client-facing solutioning background: you have shaped engagements from ambiguous conversations, won technical confidence in the room, and carried trade-off discussions with business leadership without locking them in.
- Direct hands-on experience designing and shipping LLM-powered products: RAG pipelines, prompt and context engineering, eval harnesses, and vendor-agnostic LLM abstractions.
- Hands-on experience with agents, not just prompted models: you have wired tools to a model and let it run multi-step using LangGraph, AutoGen,



Claude Agent SDK, OpenAI Assistants, or your own orchestration.
- Strong Python or TypeScript, with OOP, SOLID, 12-factor application development, and microservice architecture. You have built Next.js applications, FastAPI services, and similar.
- Active, structured use of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) with demonstrable workflows, sub-agents, skills, and templates.
- Working fluency across the capabilities you will set standards for: QA and test automation, DevSecOps, and data engineering. You do not need to be the deepest specialist in each, but you must speak each language credibly and know what positive looks like.
- Experience designing and deploying cloud-native architectures on AWS with Docker, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions. Cloudflare experience a plus.
- Experience governing or assuring delivery across multiple concurrent teams: technical oversight, quality gates, and steering without micromanaging.
- Strong written communication: you author ADRs, standards, scope memos, and decision documents that hold up under review.
- Storytelling craft: you turn discovery conversations into narratives that make clients see their own problem more clearly, and you present architectures and live demos to executive audiences with confidence.
- A real, recent trail of built things: GitHub, a portfolio, side projects, indie tools, or OSS contributions.
- A no-compromise attitude on clean code, TDD, security, reliability, observability, scalability, performance, and cost.
- A founder s mindset and genuine appetite for ambiguous, high-impact technical challenges.

Bonus Skills / Experience

- Prior Tech Principal, Principal Consultant, Solution Architect, or Field CTO experience at a consultancy.
- Public writing, talks, or threads about building with AI.
- LLMOps and observability experience (LangSmith, Langfuse, Arize Phoenix), and model serving where the problem calls for it (Bedrock, SageMaker, vLLM).
- Streaming and batch ingestion pipelines (Spark, Airflow, Beam, Glue).
- Experience with enterprise AI governance frameworks (EU AI Act readiness, internal AI policy and risk frameworks).
- Pharma, healthcare, or other regulated-industry experience.
- Relevant cloud architecture certifications.
