Job Purpose/ Summary To ensure quality assurance and process compliance for pipe bending operations in the PBM Plant by monitoring and controlling critical manufacturing and inspection parameters, ensuring bent pipes conform to customer specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes/standards and project requirements.

The role will be responsible for in-process and final inspection, dimensional control, NDT coordination, defect identification, documentation and traceability of bent pipes. The incumbent will work closely with Production, Technical Services, NDT, Maintenance and other functions to identify quality issues, implement corrective actions and ensure consistent product quality.

The Quality Engineer – PBM will monitor quality requirements throughout the pipe bending process, from incoming pipe verification through bending, post-bending inspection and final release.

The role will ensure that critical parameters such as bend angle, bend radius, ovality, dimensional accuracy, surface condition and pipe integrity are maintained as per approved requirements. The incumbent will conduct and coordinate inspections and testing, review inspection results, identify deviations and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

The position will also maintain complete inspection records, test reports, traceability and quality documentation and coordinate with Production and other relevant departments for timely resolution of quality issues and customer/project requirements.

Verify pipe identification and traceability before bending ensuring accuracy of pipe number heat number grade size wall thickness and applicable project requirementsbrReview customer specifications drawings Inspection Test Plans ITP Manufacturing Process Specifications MPS procedures and inspection requirements prior to production commencementbrConduct incoming inprocess and final inspections of pipes according to approved inspection plans and proceduresbrMonitor and verify critical parameters during pipe bending operations including bend angle bend radius pipe diameter ovality dimensional tolerances endtoend dimensions surface condition and bending deformationbrEnsure bent pipes comply with applicable drawings specifications acceptance criteria and project requirementsbrInspect bent pipes for defects such as wrinkling buckling cracking dents surface damage and excessive deformationbrCoordinate with Production to maintain appropriate bending parameters and process controlsbrPerform dimensional inspections using appropriate measuring instruments and ensure their calibration status is validbrCoordinate applicable NDT activities postbending and review NDT reportsresults for conformitybrMonitor requirements related to wallthickness variation straindeformation and pipe integrity following bendingbrIdentify nonconforming pipes ensuring proper segregation identification and traceabilitybrRaise and process NonConformance Reports NCRs for quality deviations and coordinate corrective actions with Production and other concerned functionsbrConductsupport Root Cause Analysis RCA for recurring defects and implement effective corrective and preventive actionsbrMonitor rework repair and rejection trends identifying opportunities for quality improvementbrEnsure proper traceability of each bent pipe from input through bending inspection testing and final releasebrPrepare and maintain inspection reports dimensional reports NDT reports test records and quality dossiersbrEnsure inspection and testing records are complete and available for customerthirdparty inspectionbrCoordinate with Production Technical Services NDT Maintenance and Planning for timely resolution of qualityrelated issuesbrParticipate in customer inspections thirdparty inspections audits and projectspecific quality activities as requiredbrSupport preparation and review of Inspection Test Plans ITP quality procedures and inspection formats related to PBM operationsbrEnsure measuring and testing equipment used for inspection is calibrated and fit for usebrSupport trials and qualification of new bending processes machines tooling or process parametersbrMonitor quality KPIs such as rejection rework NCRs customer complaints and firstpass acceptancebrDrive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce bending defects rework and rejectionbrEnsure compliance with applicable quality safety inspection and documentation requirementsbrMaintain proper housekeeping 5S and secure working practices within the inspection areabrEnsure timely escalation of critical quality deviations to the Quality InchargeManager
