Role Description The Senior Accountant role at Surprise Machi is a full-time, in office position based in Chennai.

The Senior

Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and expense tracking. This role will be responsible for preparing financial statements, budgets, cash flow reports, and management information for leadership, while ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations.

Accountant will oversee periodic audits, implement internal controls, and support financial planning for events, collaborations, and new initiatives. The role also includes collaborating with cross-functional teams, supervising junior accounting staff, and contributing to process improvements for accurate and timely financial reporting.

Qualifications

- Manage complete accounting operations: bookkeeping, ledgers, financial statements, and monthly closing.
- Independently handle Zoho Books (invoices, expenses, ledgers, integrations, reports, and reconciliation).
- Oversee settlements, fee accounting, refunds, and reconciliation through payment

gateways such as Cashfree (mandatory), Razorpay, and Stripe.
- Track daily transactions, revenue streams, and ensure accurate categorization.
- Monitor cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and MIS reporting.
- Ensure GST, TDS, and statutory compliance; coordinate with auditors for filing and verification.
- Manage vendor payments, receivables, and internal controls.
- Identify financial discrepancies, operational leakages, and recommend process improvements.
