Assistant Store Manager (ASM)

Department: Retail Operations

Reporting To: Store Manager / Retail Operations Manager

Location: As per company requirements

Job Summary

The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in daily store operations, managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining inventory accuracy, and achieving sales targets while ensuring that all employees follow company policies and SOPs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Store Operations

- Ensure smooth daily store opening, operations and closing.
- Ensure the store is clean, organized and properly maintained.
- Monitor employee activities and ensure compliance with company SOPs.
- Support the Store Manager in daily operational activities.

2. Staff Management & Discipline

- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, grooming and discipline.
- Ensure employees follow company rules and core values.
- Allocate daily tasks and monitor employee productivity.
- Report repeated violations and staff-related issues to the Store Manager.

3. Sales & Customer Service

- Support the team in achieving daily and monthly sales targets.
- Ensure customers receive professional and timely service.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues appropriately.
- Ensure employees have proper product knowledge.

4. Inventory & Product Management

- Ensure products are properly arranged, stored and displayed.
- Monitor stock movement and support regular stock verification.




- Ensure accurate product counting, checking, packing and billing as applicable.
- Immediately report damaged, missing or mismatched products.

5. Reporting & Coordination

- Maintain daily sales, attendance and operational records.
- Share weekly reports on staff performance, attendance and store challenges.
- Communicate operational issues and improvement suggestions to management.
- Coordinate with the Store Manager and other departments as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Graduate preferred.
- Experience in retail sales or store operations preferred.

Positive communication and team management skills.

- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Responsible, disciplined and customer-focused.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and sales reporting.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Achievement of store sales targets.
- Staff attendance and discipline.
- Customer satisfaction and complaint resolution.
- Inventory accuracy and product handling.
- Store cleanliness and SOP compliance.
- Timely completion of reports and assigned tasks.

Working Conditions

- Full-time retail position.
- Must be flexible to work assigned shifts, weekends and holidays as per store requirements.

Note: The Assistant Store Manager will support the Store Manager and take responsibility for store operations in the Store Manager's absence, as authorized by management.
