JOB DESCRIPTION FOR POST OF PRODUCTION INCHARGE

Job Title: Production Incharge – Plant Tissue Culture Lab cum Nursery
Location: Thano Dehradun Uttarakhand

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Incharge to oversee all aspects of operations in a Plant Tissue Culture Lab cum Nursery. This role entails full responsibility from media preparation to plant dispatch, with a focus on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, quality assurance, and market-aligned production planning. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in tissue culture protocols, nursery management, and current market trends.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Strategy

- Develop and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual production plans aligned with market demand and business goals.
- Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to understand current market scenarios and plan production accordingly.
- Forecast demand for different varieties and plan lab and nursery production timelines.
- Implement production cost-reduction strategies without compromising quality.

2. Tissue Culture Laboratory Management

- Oversee the entire tissue culture process: media preparation, sterilization, initiation, multiplication, rooting, and hardening.
- Ensure aseptic conditions and maintain sterility standards throughout the lab.
- Manage production targets per protocol and ensure timely delivery of tissue culture plantlets.
- Optimize protocols and adopt standard practices to increase yield and reduce contamination losses.

3. Nursery Management

- Supervise the transfer of plantlets from lab to hardening and nursery stages.
- Monitor the health, growth, and survival rate of plants during hardening.
- Implement best horticultural practices and pest/disease control measures.




- Ensure space and resource optimization in the nursery.

4. Quality Assurance & Compliance

- Implement and monitor SOPs and QMS protocols at all production stages.
- Ensure traceability of batches and maintain detailed production records.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines related to biotech and nursery operations.

5. Team Leadership & Training

- Lead a multidisciplinary team including lab technicians, nursery staff, and washer and cleaners etc.
- Conduct regular training programs to update the team on new practices and technologies.
- Maintain high morale, productivity, and discipline in the production team.

6. Cost Control & Resource Management

- Monitor and control usage of chemicals, media components, energy, and manpower.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures across lab and nursery operations.
- Prepare and manage production budgets and ensure adherence.

7. Reporting & Coordination

- Provide regular production updates and reports to management.
- Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and marketing departments to ensure smooth operations.

8. Qualifications & Skills:

- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in plant tissue culture lab and nursery production (preferably in a leadership role).
- Solid technical knowledge of micro propagation and nursery practices.
- Experience in production planning, team management, and cost control.
- Familiarity with market trends and demand in horticultural/ornamental/fruit crops.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹75,000.00 per month
