Job Description – Kindergarten (KG) Teacher

Job Title: Kindergarten Teacher (LKG/UKG)

Location: Surapet, Chennai

Department: Pre-Primary / Early Childhood Education

Reports To: Principal / Academic Coordinator

Experience: 1–3 years preferred

Qualification: D.El.Ed., Montessori Training, NTT, ECCE, or a relevant teaching qualification

Job Summary

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and creative KG Teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. The candidate should be passionate about early childhood education and capable of supporting children's academic, social, emotional, and physical development.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons for kindergarten students.

Teach basic literacy, numeracy, phonics, rhymes, and general awareness.

Organize creative activities, storytelling, music, art, crafts, and play-based learning.

Maintain a safe, clean, and child-friendly classroom environment.

Encourage positive behavior, social skills, independence, and teamwork.

Monitor students' learning progress and maintain assessment records.





Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's progress and development.

Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, worksheets, and classroom displays.

Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and school events.

Follow school policies and child safeguarding procedures.

Required Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.

Creativity and classroom management skills.

Basic computer skills and familiarity with digital teaching tools.

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.

Good spoken English; knowledge of the local language is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a preschool, nursery, LKG, or UKG classroom.

Knowledge of phonics, activity-based learning, and early childhood development.

Ability to prepare engaging teaching materials and activities.
