Job Summary

Supergates is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer – Sheet Metal & Fabrication with solid expertise in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, mechanical design, and fabrication engineering. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in developing customized sheet metal components, assemblies, and fabricated structures, along with the ability to convert customer requirements into production-ready designs.

The candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, design optimization, engineering documentation, and cross-functional coordination to ensure product quality, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design and development of customized sheet metal components, fabricated parts, assemblies, and structures using SolidWorks.
- Prepare and review detailed 2D manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Convert customer drawings, sketches, concepts, and specifications into accurate, production-ready designs.
- Develop 3D models, flat patterns, DXF files, Bills of Materials (BOMs), cutting layouts, and fabrication documentation.
- Apply engineering principles related to material thickness, bend allowance, bend deduction, K-factor, bend sequence, tolerances, and manufacturability.
- Design components suitable for laser cutting, press brake bending, welding, grinding, finishing, and assembly.
- Select suitable materials, profiles, fasteners,



and fabrication methods based on technical and commercial requirements.
- Review designs for dimensional accuracy, structural requirements, assembly feasibility, manufacturing efficiency, and cost optimization.
- Coordinate with Production, Fabrication, Quality, and Procurement teams to ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing.
- Resolve complex design and fabrication issues during production and implement corrective design modifications.
- Manage engineering changes, drawing revisions, design validation, and technical documentation.
- Drive design standardization, value engineering, material optimization, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance to junior design engineers and support design reviews, where required.
- Ensure compliance with engineering drawing standards, customer specifications, and internal quality requirements.

Required Technical Skills

- Advanced hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Strong expertise in sheet metal design, mechanical design, and fabrication engineering.
- Practical knowledge of laser cutting, press brake bending, MIG/TIG/Arc welding, grinding, finishing, and assembly processes.
- Good understanding of GD&T;, dimensional tolerances, fits, and engineering drawing standards.
- Expertise in flat pattern development, bend allowance, bend deduction, K-factor,



and sheet metal unfolding.
- Experience in preparing and reviewing 3D models, fabrication drawings, DXF files, BOMs, and production documentation.
- Ability to interpret complex customer drawings, technical specifications, and engineering requirements.
- Strong knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Experience in engineering change management and drawing revision control.

Educational Qualification & Experience

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in Sheet Metal Design, Fabrication Design, or Mechanical Design.
- Proven hands-on experience in customized sheet metal products, fabricated assemblies, industrial equipment, machinery, engineering products, or structural fabrication.
- Experience in handling design projects independently, coordinating with manufacturing teams, and resolving production-related design challenges.

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
