1. Job Purpose

To ensure the effective cleaning, disinfection, inspection, packing, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment in accordance with hospital infection control policies and established sterilization protocols.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Receive used surgical instruments, medical devices, and equipment from operating theatres and other clinical departments.
- Perform cleaning and decontamination of instruments using approved manual and mechanical cleaning methods.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, damage, completeness, and proper functioning before packing.
- Assemble and pack surgical instrument sets, dressing materials, and other items according to standard procedures.
- Operate sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and other approved sterilizers, as per departmental protocols.
- Monitor and document sterilization cycles, including time, temperature, pressure, and other required parameters.
- Perform and document physical, chemical, and biological indicator tests as per hospital policy and applicable guidelines.
- Ensure proper labelling, traceability, and maintenance of sterilization records for each load or batch.
- Store sterile packs under appropriate conditions and maintain the integrity of sterile packaging.
- Distribute sterile instruments and supplies to operating theatres, wards, ICUs, and other departments as per requirements.
- Follow standard precautions, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and infection prevention and control practices.




- Maintain cleanliness and organization in decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and sterile storage areas.
- Report equipment malfunctions, sterilization failures, damaged instruments, and other deviations to the CSSD In-charge immediately.
- Assist in maintaining equipment maintenance records, stock registers, and departmental documentation.
- Participate in infection control audits, quality improvement activities, and departmental training programs.

3. Educational Qualification

- Any Degree with a recognized CSSD Technician course or relevant technical qualification, as required by the hospital.
- Candidates with a Diploma or Certificate in CSSD Technology, Sterilization Technology, or a related field will be preferred.

4. Experience

- Freshers may be considered if they have the required relevant qualification.
- 1–2 years of experience in a hospital CSSD department will be an added advantage.

5. Required Skills

- Knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection prevention, and aseptic practices.
- Familiarity with autoclaves and other CSSD equipment.
- Ability to identify surgical instruments and assemble instrument sets accurately.
- Good documentation, record-maintenance, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
- Teamwork, discipline, and effective coordination with clinical departments.

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
