About our client

Our client is the Indian manufacturing subsidiary of a global industrial technology group. The group designs mechatronic products for demanding sectors, including aerospace.

The Bengaluru plant manufactures hermetically sealed relays, sockets, switches and handle-grip assemblies. These are precision-engineered parts where supplier quality, traceability and on-time delivery directly affect aerospace and industrial customer programs. The site operates under an AS9100 Rev D quality management system.

This is a high-visibility role. You will report directly to the Managing Director and own the supplier base that the plant's growth depends on.

The role

You will build and run a competitive, AS9100-compliant supplier base for precision mechanical components. You will qualify new vendors, own the Approved Vendor List (AVL) and First Article Inspection (FAI) approvals, and keep materials flowing to production on cost, quality and time.

This is a technical purchasing role. You will read drawings, challenge a supplier's process capability and negotiate the commercials in the same meeting.

What you bring

Must have

- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 12–15 years in purchasing, strategic sourcing, supplier development and supply chain in a manufacturing set-up.
- Industry background in aerospace, defence or aerospace-grade electromechanical manufacturing, with a track record of sourcing and qualifying precision-engineered mechanical components.
- Hands-on FAI coordination and approval, supplier industrialisation and supplier quality management.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T;, material specifications and inspection reports.
- Working knowledge of machining, tooling, materials and special processes.
- Experience with supplier audits, capability assessments and AVL management.
- Strong negotiation, cost analysis and alternate-sourcing results.

Valuable to have

- Exposure to cockpit or flight-control hardware such as switches, relays and handle grips.




- Working exposure to AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems.
- ERP procurement experience, ideally JD Edwards (JDE).
- A qualification in supply chain, procurement, operations or an MBA.

How you work

- You speak the supplier's technical language and hold your ground on both engineering and commercial issues.
- You own outcomes, follow through and handle competing priorities across Engineering, Quality, Production, Planning and Finance.
- You act with integrity and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.

How success is measured

- New suppliers qualified and added to the AVL, and the quality of those additions.
- FAI approvals completed on time for new and modified parts.
- Fewer supplier defects, rejections and repeat non-conformities.
- Better on-time supplier delivery and fewer material shortages.
- Annual purchasing cost-reduction targets met.
- Alternate sources in place for critical and single-source parts.
- Leaner inventory, with less excess and obsolete stock.
- Complete, audit-ready documentation for qualification, AVL, purchasing and FAI.
