Job Description: Production Supervisor / Line Manager (Pump Manufacturing)Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Production Supervisor to oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will supervise operations across machining, impeller balancing, assembly, testing, and painting lines while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and production targets.

Key Responsibilities1. Shop-Floor Management

- Supervise daily manufacturing operations across CNC/VMC machining center, impeller energetic balancing, pump assembly line, hydrostatic testing rig, and final coating/painting section.
- Ensure daily production schedules and output targets are met according to the Production Planning and Control (PPC) plan.

2. Manpower & Shift Planning

- Efficiently allocate machine operators, fitters, welders, and testers across work centers.
- Manage shift schedules, rotational rosters, overtime, and absenteeism.
- Conduct daily shift-start huddles to communicate production targets, quality observations, and safety reminders.

3. Quality Control & Performance Testing

- Monitor output to ensure critical dimensions (bore sizes, shaft tolerances, impeller clearances, seal seats) strictly comply with technical drawings and specifications.
- Supervise pressure testing (hydrostatic testing) and performance test rig runs to ensure zero leakage and proper flow/head characteristics.
- Support root-cause analysis (8D, 7QC tools, 5-Why Analysis) for machining defects, casting porosity issues, assembly rejections, or failed pressure tests.

4. Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping

- Enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols for high-pressure testing, lifting heavy castings/eOT cranes, and handling chemical sealants/paints.
- Maintain strict 5S housekeeping standards across work bays and material storage areas.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and industry-specific standards (e.g., API 610,



HI standards where applicable).

5. Efficiency & Continuous Improvement

- Track and optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Line Efficiency.
- Minimize setup changeover times and unplanned machine downtime.
- Drive Lean, Kaizen, and Poka-Yoke (error-proofing) initiatives to reduce scrap rates and pump re-work.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination

- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) team for stage and final inspection sign-offs.
- Coordinate with Preventive Maintenance to resolve equipment breakdowns and schedule PM routines.
- Partner with Stores, Foundry/Raw Material Supply, and Logistics teams to ensure seamless material movement and prevent production bottlenecks.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Experience: 2 to 5+ years of shop-floor supervisory experience in pump, valve, electric motor, compressor, or rotating equipment manufacturing.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Understanding of rotating equipment assembly, mechanical seals, bearings, submersibles, centrifugals, or hydraulic systems.
- Exposure to machining (CNC/VMC/Lathe), casting/foundry defect analysis, dynamic balancing, and hydrostatic/hydraulic test rigs.
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) and manufacturing standards.
- Core Skills: People leadership, shop-floor problem solving, computer literacy (MS Office, ERP/SAP), and time management.

Typical Compensation & Work Conditions

- Work Environment: In-person plant/factory environment with rotational shifts (Day / Night).
- Salary Range (India): Typically ranges from ₹22,000 to ₹40,000+ per month, depending on candidate experience, pump technology complexity (industrial/API vs. domestic/agricultural), and company scale.
