Job Description
The Digital Solution Consultant helps transform high-value business opportunities into practical, testable Digital & AI solutions. Working at the intersection of business, technology, and user experience, this role partners with practices and corporate teams to understand how work gets done, identify where technology can create meaningful value, and translate promising ideas into pilots that can be tested and validated with real users.
This is not a traditional business analyst, project manager, or technology support role. The Digital Solution Consultant takes ownership of the business side of individual initiatives, from initial discovery and opportunity definition through pilot validation, adoption, and value realization. Working closely with Innovation Engineers and enterprise technology partners, this individual helps rapidly test concepts, gather user feedback, refine solutions, and determine whether an initiative should scale, remain business-led, undergo further iteration, or stop.
This role also offers the unique prospect to join as a founding member of J.S. Held’s new Digital Innovation Foundry hub in New Delhi. As part of the hub’s initial team, the Digital Solution Consultant will have the opportunity to help shape its culture, ways of working, and approach to identifying and delivering Digital & AI solutions, while building strong partnerships with colleagues and technology teams across the global organization.
As an early member of the Digital Innovation Foundry, this individual will also help establish a repeatable model for identifying, validating, and scaling high-value Digital & AI opportunities across the firm. The role is ideal for someone with a builder mindset, strong business judgment, comfort navigating ambiguity, and the ability to move fluidly between strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities
Business Discovery & Opportunity Shaping
- Partner with practices and corporate functions to understand workflows, pain points, unmet needs, and opportunities to improve how work gets done.
- Translate loosely defined ideas into clear problem statements, target users, use cases, expected outcomes, and testable hypotheses.
- Conduct workflow discovery through interviews, observation, workshops, document review, and other user-centered research methods.
- Assess current processes, tools, information flows, data needs, user behaviors, and constraints before recommending a solution path.
- Assess opportunities and provide recommendations to support portfolio prioritization based on business value, user demand, feasibility, readiness, risk, and potential for reuse.
- Challenge solution-first thinking and ensure the team is solving a meaningful business problem before committing resources.
Pilot & Solution Validation
- Lead the business-side planning and execution of pilots, proofs of concept, and targeted experiments.
- Define pilot scope, target users, user journeys, requirements, acceptance criteria, feedback methods, and success measures.
- Work side by side with Innovation Engineers to translate business needs into practical prototypes, agents, workflows, automations, and other digital solutions.
- Coordinate pilot participants and facilitate structured testing with subject-matter experts and end users.
- Gather, synthesize, and prioritize user feedback; distinguish critical workflow needs from preferences and feature requests.
- Iterate rapidly with technical resources to refine the solution, user experience, and delivery approach.
- Determine whether a pilot solves the intended problem and recommend whether to scale, refine, defer, remain business-led, transition to enterprise delivery, or stop.
Value Realization & Adoption
- Establish initiative-level value hypotheses, baselines, expected benefits, and practical measures of success.
- Measure adoption, usefulness, workflow impact, cycle-time improvement, quality, capacity, risk reduction, revenue enablement, or other relevant outcomes.
- Develop initiative-level adoption, training, and enablement approaches that help users incorporate successful solutions into their workflows.
- Help users incorporate new capabilities into how work is actually performed, rather than treating technology as an add-on.
- Identify barriers to adoption and work with business sponsors, users, and technical partners to resolve them.
- Communicate pilot results, lessons learned, and recommendations in clear, decision-oriented language for business and executive stakeholders.
Portfolio Learning & Scale
- Document decisions, assumptions, outcomes, and lessons across initiatives to improve the Foundry operating model.
- Identify common patterns, reusable requirements, and capabilities that could serve multiple practices or workflows.
- Help prevent fragmented point solutions by evaluating whether existing platforms, tools, or reusable building blocks can meet the need.
- Provide initiative-level progress, outcomes, value measures, and recommendations to support portfolio reviews and reporting.
- Build and improve repeatable methods, templates, playbooks, and standards for discovery, pilots, validation, adoption, and value measurement.
- Collaborate with Digital, IT, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, Data, Legal, Compliance, and other partners as required by each initiative.
- Maintain a business-led perspective while ensuring solutions are shaped with appropriate technical, security, data, governance, and support considerations.
