Company Description The Physical Education and Sport Sciences (PESS) Department is a dynamic and rapidly expanding unit within the Faculty of Education and Health Sciences at the University of Limerick (UL). Its reputation is built on the expertise of its staff, the quality of its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and the applied, practice-focused nature of its teaching and research. PESS supports extensive research activity through dedicated centres, thematic collaborations, publications, and funded projects, under the leadership of Head of Department, Prof. Giles Warrington. The department holds a strong national and international profile, ranking 48th globally in the Shanghai Global University Rankings (2021) for Sports Science and in the top 51–100 in the QS World University Rankings (2022) for sport-related subjects. PESS has a clear mission and considerable scope to grow the impact and quality of its teaching, research, and community engagement. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Assistant Professor role based in Hyderabad. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and practical sessions in physical education and sport sciences, and contribute to curriculum design and continuous enhancement of academic programmes. Daily responsibilities include preparing and updating teaching materials, supervising student projects and dissertations, assessing student performance, and providing academic advising and mentoring. The role also involves developing an independent research profile, producing peer-reviewed publications, seeking research funding,



and engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration. The Assistant Professor will participate in departmental meetings, committees, outreach, and professional service activities that support the strategic goals and reputation of PESS. Qualifications
• Advanced academic preparation, typically a PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) in Physical Education, Sport Sciences, Exercise Science, or a closely related discipline; a relevant master’s degree with significant academic experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated teaching competence in higher education, including experience designing modules, delivering lectures and practical classes, and using contemporary, inclusive pedagogical approaches.
• Established or emerging research record in physical education or sport sciences, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and participation in funded or collaborative research projects.
• Ability to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research, guide students in project design and data analysis, and support their academic and career development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse, multidisciplinary teams and contribute to a collegial department culture.
• Experience or interest in applied and practice-oriented activities, such as coaching, performance analysis, or school
- and community-based physical activity initiatives.
