Financial Controller – Finance & Accounts

Mumbai, MH Industry: Agri-Commodity Trading / Trade Finance Reporting To: CFO Team: Manager / Assistant Manager – Finance & Accounts Role Overview We are looking for a qualified Chartered Accountant to lead the Finance & Accounts function for a business engaged in agri-commodity procurement, trading and trade finance. The role will be responsible for overall financial control, reporting, working capital, cash-flow management, taxation, compliance and commercial finance. Candidates from NBFCs and other working-capital-intensive businesses with strong financial controllership experience will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
1. Finance & Financial Control
• Lead the Finance & Accounts function and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Review monthly P&L;, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and MIS.
• Ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial closure.
• Establish and strengthen accounting processes, internal controls and financial checks. 2. Commodity & Trade Finance
• Oversee accounting for commodity procurement, inventory, sales and trade-finance transactions.
• Monitor customer-wise exposure, outstanding receivables and financing periods.
• Review interest/financing income and ensure appropriate accounting and revenue recognition.
• Analyse transaction-wise profitability and financial performance. 3. Working Capital & Cash Flow
• Manage working capital, cash-flow planning and liquidity.
• Monitor inventory funding, receivables, payables, customer advances and financing costs.
• Liaise with banks on working-capital facilities and trade-finance requirements.
• Review bank and loan reconciliations. 4. Taxation, Audit & Compliance
• Oversee GST, TDS, taxation and statutory compliance.
• Coordinate with statutory/internal auditors and tax advisors.
• Ensure timely completion of audits,



financial schedules and regulatory requirements. 5. MIS & Business Partnering
• Provide financial MIS, business analysis and performance insights to management.
• Analyze profitability, customer exposure, inventory position and cash conversion.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities to improve working capital and profitability.
• Work closely with business teams to ensure appropriate financial controls. 6. Team Management
• Lead and mentor the Finance & Accounts team.
• Ensure accuracy and timely completion of financial deliverables.
• Strengthen finance processes and support business growth. Candidate Profile
• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
• 5–8 years of post-qualification experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, agriculture, FMCG, agri-commodity trading, commodity trading, trade finance, NBFC, asset finance or other working-capital-intensive businesses.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting, taxation, GST, audit and internal controls.
• Hands-on experience in working-capital management, cash flows, banking and funding.
• Exposure to inventory accounting, customer exposure, financing income or lending-related accounting will be advantageous.
• Experience managing or leading a Finance & Accounts team.
• Solid analytical, commercial and stakeholder-management skills. Preferred Backgrounds Candidates from the following sectors will be considered:
