Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and the US Healthcare domain to join our engineering team. The project involves building and scaling a cross-platform mobile and web application that connects patients directly with registered dietitians for one-on-one virtual care, meal logging, habit tracking, and continuous real-time messaging. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing secure, scalable backend systems and APIs, along with a strong understanding of healthcare technology and the requirements of handling sensitive healthcare data.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable backend applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Build and optimize high-performance GraphQL APIs to support efficient data fetching and seamless application integration.
• Develop robust business logic, backend services, and data models to support patient engagement and virtual healthcare workflows.
• Optimize database queries and backend performance to ensure scalability, reliability, and responsiveness.
• Integrate backend services with mobile and web applications and third-party systems.




• Apply appropriate security practices for sensitive healthcare data, including relevant HIPAA requirements.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and follow backend engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues, improve system reliability, and contribute to ongoing platform enhancements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality healthcare technology solutions. Required Skills & Qualifications
• Minimum 6+ years of relevant backend engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and optimizing GraphQL APIs.
• Previous experience working in the US Healthcare domain is mandatory.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, data modeling, query optimization, and API performance.
• Experience building secure, scalable, and reliable backend applications.
• Understanding of healthcare data privacy, security, and HIPAA-related requirements.
